Receive custom notifications for earthquakes in New Zealand, and bulletins on volcanic activity.

NOTE to upgrading users: please check your settings (while you have internet connectivity), to be certain your push notification settings are set correctly.

Features include:

* Get notified within a few minutes of quakes that interest you.
* Set up multiple notifications by location and intensity, or magnitude and depth.
* Configurable notification rules, sounds and quiet time periods (for Android 7 and prior).
* Displays recent quakes in a list or map, filter them by intensity.
* Submit shaking reports from your phone.
* View felt reports from around the country alongside shaking levels recorded by our seismograph network.
* For technical users – view peak ground accelerations (PGA) and velocities (PGV) recorded by our seismograph network on a map.

* Get notified about changing volcanic activity with Volcanic Alert Bulletins.

Ratings and reviews

I used to be so impressed, but maps no longer load land or sea. I just get dots without context. Also, it overdoes the notifications. I'd prefer to choose severity of volcano steam etc. rather than getting notified about slight changes almost an island away etc. I had so many that I had to turn notifications off, which is counterproductive. Advice notifications should be opt in, with the info also available as a discreet option on opening the app. In this form, it is vaguely helpful.

⭐️Was 5 stars, but I keep getting your red alert visual from the app, that would only appear as a result of an event. When I see it I get alarmed thinking there's been an event, but it's advice instead. While advice is important, I have to switch off notifications now from your app, because they are no longer alerts. So it's only half as useful now.

Pika! Absolutely a must have for any Kiwi. Very interesting to see how many earthquakes happen. Clean easy to navigate GUI. Kudos.
