Forced update and now the app turns on location tracking WITHOUT PERMISSION as soon as the app is opened and doesn't let go of it until the app is removed or the device is rebooted. Not. Cool. Edit: actually, it's even worse than that. The Avis app starts tracking your location as soon as your device wakes up from a reset, even without you opening the app, regardless of location permission being disabled. 😡

Avis saved me last night/this morning when my flight was delayed. I hadn't reserved with Avis since no cars were available at the time, but they came through when the Other Company's counter was closed. Initially, I only took the car for a day, but it was easy to extend the reservation through the app. Hooray for Avis, one thing went right with this trip! Oh, and the young woman at the counter at the Little Rock airport was friendly, efficient, and helpful, despite the hour.

AVIS changed the app, it used to default to unlimited mileage. I was duped on my last rental. already shocked at the quoted rate, I booked anyway only to find out the reservation was not for unlimited mileage. My weekly rental went from $544 to $965. I will not be booking again and I'm a preferred customer. I guess it doesn't matter any more.
