In psychology, the Stroop effect is a demonstration of the interference in the reaction time of a task.
When the name of a color (eg "Blue", "green", or "red") is written in a color that does not correspond to the name (eg the word "red" written in blue ink, instead of ink red), naming the color of the word takes longer and is more prone to errors than when the color of the ink corresponds to the name of the color.
