wildly addictive, very fun to strategize, so much more than rock-paper-scissors, due to 4 at a time. I mean the story completely drops off past level 500 or so, and some "help" characters get very annoying when you lose (ludens, cough). But for a game with no ads that you don't have to pay a cent for, it's great. yeah, the difficulty means you have to get good at strategizing or very smart about how do you spend keys, but upgrading items means I never have to wait more than a day to progress.

It has two of my favorite things: the art style and turn-based RPG. I was obsessed with it, and I have a good strategy going with the team I have until I was hit with a subtle paywall. The level caps, heavy RNG, and the lack of rewards after beating floor and event enemies (talking about Charity's at the time) make the battles just bite-sized compared to Voidpet Garden's. I hope this will be improved on.

I really like the Core gameplay loop because of its simplicity, but admittedly, the gacha aspect of obtaining creatures really puts a damper on what you can achieve. if I hadn't drawn a ton of copies of my DPS and gotten a good pull for a tank and healer, then I'd have been cooked. As it stands, I'm still struggling to pull a good secondary DPS and I'm feeling a wall settle into place. but at the end of the day it's simple enough that you can easily enjoy it as a casual little time sink.
