Adam Clarke was a British Methodist theologian and biblical scholar born in Northern Ireland. He is famous for writing a commentary on the Bible, which took him 40 years to complete.

That commentary was published as: “The New Testament of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ”.

As a theologian, Clarke reinforced the teachings of Methodist founder John Wesley. He believed that the Bible gives a complete interpretation of God and his nature and will and considered Scripture itself a miracle of God's grace that "takes away the veil of darkness and ignorance”.

Ratings and reviews

Commentary is great, function of app is not. The Ads are more than annoying and when you attempt to subscribe to remove them, it always gives an error. It continually switches pages on you, and after an ad plays, it never takes you back to where you were. I recommend using the web version of Adam Clarke and not the app.

I would give this five stars if the scrolling weren't so finicky. Often as I'm just scrolling down to the next verse, it'll swap me over a chapter instead. At least I discovered that hitting my phone's back button takes me back to the verse I was in before. Anyway, other than that issue, I've enjoyed the free access to an interesting old commentary that I was unable to get from any library. Thanks for making Clarke available!

I'm enjoying reading the daily verses with the commentary... And the app is fairly easy to use.... April 29, 2022 addition. Many times,I cannot remember where the daily verse was to go back to it a little while later. Is there a way to add that memory feature to the app? Also, it switches to a different chapter too easily when you are trying to scroll down.
