About this app

Clex is a reading and writing aid

Clex is made for care workers in elderly care, and in particular for those who are dyslexic, who find reading and writing difficult, or who have low vision.

Documentation takes up a large part of the working day. Clex helps with both halves of it: reading what is in the care record, and writing what has to be written.

Clex Keyboard

• Word suggestions and autocorrect: the next word is suggested, and spelling mistakes are fixed as you type.
• Correct my text: fixes spelling and sentences in what you have already written, and shows you every single change before you accept it.
• Speech to text: say it instead of typing it. Speech becomes text on the device itself.
• Read back: hear your own text before you save it.
• Pictures and professional terms: recognise the word from the picture instead of reading it, and point at the body to get the right professional term.
• Translation: write in your own language.

Clex Read Aloud

Clex Read Aloud speaks the text on the screen out loud, in the care record system and in other apps, not only in Clex.

When Clex Read Aloud is on, a floating button appears at the edge of the screen. Tap it, and Clex outlines the text it can read on the screen you are on. Tap one of those outlines and Clex speaks it aloud. You can listen instead of reading.

The text is spoken on the device itself and is never stored, never written to a log and never sent to Clex. Password fields and PIN fields are never read. A built-in list of sensitive apps is blocked entirely. It covers banks, national eID, password managers, two-step login apps and payment apps. You turn Clex Read Aloud on yourself under Settings → Accessibility, and you can turn it off again at any time.

It stays on your device

What you write and the text on your screen never leave your device. Word suggestions, Correct my text, Clex Read Aloud, speech to text and translation all run on the device itself. The app sends anonymous usage statistics: a daily count of how many times each feature was used. It contains no text and no identifier for you or your device, and you can switch it off under Privacy in the app's settings. The privacy policy describes exactly what the app sends and what it never sends.

Licence

Clex requires a licence. If you get Clex through your workplace, it is set up for you. Otherwise you activate it yourself with an activation code. Without a licence, the keyboard's assistive features and Clex Read Aloud cannot be used.
