About this app

The App offers possibility to control all Shelly devices remotely from any internet connection by using the cloud option. There is also an option not to connect your devices to the internet with local control mode. Devices do not need to be connected to the cloud or to send data there.

Shelly home automation portfolio includes variety of relay switches, sensors, plugs, bulbs, controllers, all connected and controlled through Wi-Fi network. The new Shelly Plus and Shelly Pro lines of products additionally support Bluetooth connectivity for faster device inclusion, and the new Shelly Pro line offers LAN and Wi-Fi usage simultaneously. Entire Shelly portfolio is available at https://shelly.cloud

Shelly devices are suitable to control lights, home or other appliances, garage doors, curtains and window blinds, trigger actions based on certain parameters from sensor devices. Devices provide near real time notification on changes of the parameters they are measuring - energy consumption, temperature other environment values.

All Shelly devices have:
- Embedded Web server
- Wi-Fi control and connectivity
- APIs for observation and control

Shelly Cloud App user account is required to access, include, and control Shelly devices through the application or via the upcoming Wear OS applet. Once Shelly account is registered,
- Connect to existing W-Fi network or use Access Point mode locally to control Shelly devices
- Include, manage, and operate as many Shelly devices needed
- Configure devices and mange individual settings to every device individually
- Custom scheduling for automatic actions by Shelly devices
- Create personalized rooms for more convenient control of the devices
- Define custom Groups of devices to control multiple devices with one command in the app
- Build simple and complex scenes by combining Shelly devices to trigger certain actions in your home automation
- Monitor current and past electrical power consumption of the electrical circuit(s) and loads (for Shelly devices equipped with Power measuring capabilities)
- Build complex automation solutions for improved energy and operational efficiency
- Real time alerts and notifications based on your preference
- The Wear OS applet is coming soon

Shelly devices are compatible with other most widely accepted both local and cloud based home automation platforms. Having a Shelly user account is necessary to include your Shelly devices to home automation platforms like Google Home or Alexa.

Great hardware, but the app could use a lot of improvement in usability. When I need to control my devices, I need to do it NOW, and not go through several steps before I get to the On/Off button! App starts slowly, then presents list of rooms to chose, then a list of devices. While it is reasonably logical, it's not quick or intuitive. This could be solved by the use of widgets, to allow users to place device On/Off buttons on the home screen for one touch control. Hope the devs are listening!

App is challenging to use and unintuitive. Adding a device doesn't work like you think it should, until it magically does. Devices also takes a while to appear when opening the app. However, as of today, for me, the app doesn't open at all. It's stuck at the loading screen, so I currently have zero functionality. If you buy their hardware, I strongly recommend planning on using Home Assistant or something else, and just skip their app. Update: I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, which let it advance beyond the loading screen. All was good, until I went to use it today. The app downloaded a bunch of files to update, and my device was good. Despite my best efforts to re-add the device, I just can't get it to show. My "Rooms" page is messed up with multiple rooms that I can't delete, and my device is nowhere to be seen. I've reset and added it multiple times, but it just disappears into the ether. I'm done fighting this.

Absolute disaster. Hard to use GUI. Doesn't work! I was able to turn the light and no more commands worked after! Error message was absolutely useless! Immense waste of my time!!! Edit: removing the password for the lights allows the app to control them but this means any user on the network can mess with the lights. Please fix!!! It's not acceptable! BTW the light and power plugs and the software that runs on them is (so far) exceptional but the cloud phone app a disaster.
