About this app

Shade has been updated to Android Q!

This launcher is the embodiment of my vision for Android apps. It can be enjoyed by everyone, without having to scroll through a massive list of options.

Features:

- Adaptive Icon Packs
Choose from many popular icon packs to customize your home screen. Even icon packs with adaptive icons are supported.

- Smart Unread
The widget on the first page will show the most important notification on your phone.
When music is playing, control it by tapping the widget. Tap once to pause, twice to skip, three times to rewind.

- Themes
Choose between Light or Dark mode, or let it decide from the wallpaper. Then pick an accent to apply throughout the launcher, for a modern look that’s personalized in the iconic shades of Shade.

- News Feed
Swipe right to open a feed selected in the settings. Any app can implement a feed.
To show Google's News Feed, you need Rootless Pixel Bridge from my GitHub: https://amirzaidi.github.io/bridge.html

- Grid Division
Choose if you want 4, 5 or 6 columns on your home screen. Or let the launcher decide using your phone's size.

- Shortcuts
Hold an app icon to show quick shortcuts that immediately jump into the app.

- Hiding apps
Hide apps by dragging them to the Hide icon, then find them again by scrolling down veeeery far in the app drawer.

- Tap to go home
Android Q users can add a tap to go home action to the gesture navigation bar. Activate the Draw Over Apps permission and the Accessibility Service to enable this feature.

Any phone that runs Android 7.0 or higher is supported.
There is no unexpected fee, nor any advertisements. No data is collected.

It does look pretty good outwards, but functionally there are a few bugs that do need to be fixed before it can be rated a little higher. Like the widgets seem to occasionally bug out and not show their content. Mainly the music and mail so far, but that's the furthest I've tested, after a few days of using.

Big fan of this launcher. However, it bothers me that I can't get rid of the calendar event at the top of my screen (it replaced the normal clock/date on home screen) without restarting my phone. I had an event that lasted from 3-3:30 pm, and hours afterward, it was still doing the same thing. I'd love for you to fix this weird issue. Otherwise, love the simplicity and cleanness of the design!

That's actually handled by the google app's at a glance widget, I can't fix that without removing the google app integration all together

Returned to this launcher after a while. Very happy to see it has improved. It's such a relief from launchers that have an overwhelming set of features and options. This one has the exact balance of simplicity and customization for me. You can bring the icons to a uniform shape, use icon packs, adjust the search bar function, use dark mode, and even select an accent color. My only want from the developer would be to have a black dark mode or AMOLED setting (gray black can give a muddy look).

What's new

This will probably be the last update before the Shade Android 11 version.

Support long press on Unread to open media player, single tap is play/pause like it was long ago.
Improve At A Glance to look more like Google's.
Close app info sheet when the app gets uninstalled.
Change color of app info icons to be the same as AOSP Settings.
On light theme, make top of the screen transparent black instead of light gray.
Fix some rare crashes.
