Being a teenager is hard enough without the extra stresses of having depression or anxiety. Created for teens by teens, Safe&Sound was made to help those who feel like they're going through these hard times alone. This app is a way for teens to manage the symptoms of stress, anxiety or depression to prevent any negative actions on others or themselves.
Safe&Sound provides teens with several tools to use. Including:
Daily Stress and Motivation Stress comes in many forms, it could be a big project at school, trouble at home or just a lot of little things. Here, there is advice and tips about how to combat the anxiety and depression that stress brings, along with breathing exercises and inspirational quotes.
S.A.D. 101 Sometimes people fear what they don't know so these disorders can be scarier than they are because people don't know much about them. Stress, Anxiety and Depression 101 is an informational tab that informs users about the symptoms, warning signs and links to articles, where teens can go to read more.
Resources There are times when we just need to talk to someone, right? Conversation starters can help teens figure out how to talk to friends or family about what they're going through. There's also several hotlines to call (or text if you prefer!) depending on the issue you're dealing with now. But if teens have gotten so low and are thinking about suicide or some other form of violent behavior, there are also crisis response numbers to access immediate help.
Journal Maybe teens aren't quite ready to talk face to face to someone about what they're feeling, and that's okay! The journal tab is here for teens to express their feelings in a safe and positive way. It's also great to go back and refer to past stresses if they decide to pursue further help from a counselor.
Disclaimer: Safe&Sound isn't made to replace treatment from a licensed professional. For some, this app is a way to manage daily stresses, while for others it is stepping stone to get from where they are now, to where they need to go to get additional help.
