The "Arboretum in Podanin" application is a mobile guide created to support tourism in our botanical garden. The application is intended to help raise public awareness about protected species and biodiversity. This will increase species' chances of survival for the next generations. The application supports the promotion of the project entitled "Protection of birds and rare, endangered and endangered plants of our climate zone by establishing a collection of species and increasing the attractiveness of tourist development in the Podanin Forest District". Activities aimed at establishing the Arboretum at the seat of the Podanin Forest District began as early as 2015. The entire project is co-financed by the European Union, the Marshal's Office of the Wielkopolska Province in Poznań and by the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Poznań.
The application has an intuitive interface, so that every user will be able to quickly search for information of interest to him. The main menu is divided into the following parts: QR code reader, Lexicon, Map and information about the arboretum. The lexicon contains a list in Polish of all species that we meet in the Arboretum. After clicking the lexicon on the species of interest to us, the user will be redirected to his own window of the species, which contains a description, photo, information on the occurrence, origin of the species, as well as curiosities associated with it and a direct link to the map, indicating the location of the plant. An additional advantage of the application is the QR code reader, which shortens the way to search for the species we are interested in. Just scan the QR code located next to a given species in the Arboretum area and the application will redirect us to the appropriate species window.
