About this app

Made by the Google Design award-winning developer Third Culture Apps

Appy Weather is the most personal weather app because it's been designed for humans by someone who actually checks the weather too. By summarising the weather in plain-spoken & user-friendly language via its one-of-a-kind Timeline screen, Appy Weather sets itself apart from all other weather apps — no more scrolling long lists to figure out the weather as it's now summarised for you in a few lines and makes checking the weather fast, easy and actually fun! That said, there are more conventional hourly & daily views if that's what you prefer.

Appy Weather's hyperlocal accurate forecasts are powered by AerisWeather, Apple Weather, OpenWeather and Foreca.

Appy Weather is privacy-first. It doesn’t collect or process any user data.

If location permission is granted, your location will be stored locally on your device – it’s never shared with a third party.

Your location enables hyper-local forecasting when the app is run. Widgets & notifications check your location in the background when they’re updated/sent.

There is a whole lot to like about the app. I really like the detailed approach to its content and its customisable features and notifications (off by default, which is cool) and the data privacy policy is awesome. Hats off to the developers! Unfortunately the widget text-clipping in Android is a deal-breaker for me. I see that it is a known issue and being worked on so I have paid for one subscription cycle, but without a passable widget UI, I unsubscribed. Will check back later :)

Thanks for the positive words Jenna. Unfortunately as I’m in the middle of a rewrite, this will be difficult for me to address right now. This issue won’t occur due to the 2.0 due to the UI stack I’ll be depending on, which will be Android’s latest and greatest. Sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime. I appreciate your support/patience!

I like the app. Eventhough I am a fan of serif fonts on paper, it looks odd on the display, especially an read. It would be great if there was an option to switch. Edit: thanks for the quick reply. The other options would be great too in addition to roboto. Another suggestion would be to add colours to the timeline. Yellow for sunny, white for snow, blue for rain. A glance would suffice in that case to say what's gonna happen next hour next days.

Thanks for the feedback! I understand, which is why there's an option to switch to Roboto in the Settings. I've got plans to offer other options in the future too. Using more colour, how you've proposed in fact, as well as adding more visual flair in general to the app's aesthetic, at least as an option, is also on the cards :) Best, Bardi

Widgets need a lot of work, they look messy and don't follow system theme; system changes to white the widgets stay black and so on, would be nice to follow Material You colour scheme like some other apps. Notifications not as accurate as other weather apps for upcoming rain (even when adjusted for lower probability). The app itself is nicely laid out, but as mentioned above that makes is a no go for me.

What's new

Fixed weather not loading if location permission has been denied. In my checks at launch, there was an oversight scenario. Nothing sinister going on, trust me. So sorry!

The app now targets newer Android APIs: for the app to be allowed background location updates, give permission via the app’s system settings -> Location screen. You’ll need to change it so it’s allowed access all the time (not just when using the app). Also, you’ll be prompted to allow notifications if you’re a sub on launch.
