billingsFriend is designed to help any female who has a menstrual cycle to learn fertility awareness.

billingsFriend is not designed for use by someone who is sexually active. billingsMentor is recommended in that case.

Ovulation (the release of one or more eggs from an ovary) produces hormones which stimulate the glands of the cervix to secrete several types of mucus that are essential for fertility.

This mucus can be felt at the vulva and observed at the entrance to the vagina.

If the billingsFriend user records these signs and symptoms each evening the app can interpret them according to a fertility model (Billings Method) developed and verified by scientific research.

billingsFriend displays user fertility in a bar chart with a column entry for each day together with a comment on her fertility state and any predictions that can be made about when the next bleeding (menstruation) will occur.

It is possible for the user to share her data in a secure way.

The contraceptive pill prevents ovulation and therefore suppresses cervical mucus negating any possibility of learning fertility awareness.
