I love the app. Love the extra dark theme two thumbs up. I prefer the visuals of this podcast app over the other popular one. I recently began trying to use this app again to get back into podcasts. I noticed when adding podcasts on one device, they are not being added across my devices (phone & tablet). Besides that one issue, I love the app. Keep up the excellent work. Update: The podcasts are syncing across devices. There seems to be a bit of lag syncing across devices after first sign-in.

The best podcast app I have ever used, and I've used almost all of the ones available on the play store. I bought it and it is still the most used app on my phone. Being an ardent podcast listener, I can assure you that you cannot go wrong with Pocket Casts. Only problem is, I can't seem to use the web version even though I bought the Android app. I tried emailing Shifty Jelly about it to no avail.

Can't mass delete anymore. Also, after deleting episodes (one by one), they seem to automatically re-download if they're not marked as played first. So deleting episodes after listening to them now requires they be marked as played first, and then individually deleted. A formerly quick and simple process now takes many more steps. What a bad update. Might be time to start looking for alternatives.

UPDATE: 12/28/2017 Delete feature has been restored. Working well in 6.4.6. Five out of five star review restored. Great work by the developer listening to the customers. ORIGINAL: Unequivocally the best podcasting app, period. At last glance, I have listened to nearly 800 hours of podcasts since I paid for the app. However, Version 6.4.4 removed a key feature: the ability to bulk delete. In reading other reviews, I'm not alone in my feedback that this was an unwelcome change. I encourage you to download and support these developers. And I also encourage the developers to listen to their customers and restore this feature.

This app hasn't been working properly for a year. Downloads are hit and miss but when you check out the'help' page every answer just blames the individual podcast owners. I think this sums up the attitude of the devs. They're really just hoping you'll fork out another $10 for the web app. Guess what? I won't be.
I had this app on the apple side and it was good that when I got a pixel, I purchased this app again. Between this app and podcast addict, this app is cleaner, a lot more user friendly and it eats less data. If I had one complaint, it is the Android auto and how you can't see time remaining on a podcast currently playing. However I think that's more of an AA thing, which is a bummer and makes Car Play better in that respect.

This app *was* very good but seems to have got weirdly buggy. This may be a phone issue (OnePlus 3 in the UK on Three) but until recently was fine. Has now been playing podcasts at double speed (?!) and when lock the screen, it stops and starts until I turn on then off the screen again. Now become unusable so will have to change app.
If you are like me and want an app that will let you binge on old episodes of some podcasts while also keeping up with the new episodes of other podcasts, this is the app you are looking for. I think I downloaded every free app in the store before I finally decided to give this one a try. This app is practically perfect for my needs. The only changes I would make would be to leave played and unplayed episodes of a podcast in one continuous list so people.who like to download large numbers of episodes can more easily scroll down to where they left off earlier to resume downloading. I might also suggest a three month option in the filter. But the filters are a fantastic customizable feature of the app. They are a huge selling point. And it looks and functions beautifully. Nice job!!
Used to love it. But one of the latest updates ruined it for me. The auto cleanup function has stopped working where I set it to only keep 3 episodes. It's automatically keeping five. Also when an episode is playing, and I start playing another episode, the previously playing episode would be added to queue. That is no longer happening.
"We know a few of you freaked out when your bulk delete button disappeared." Condescension not appreciated. And virtually every recent review complained about the loss of the delete function. What problem were you trying to solve? You respond by allegedly restoring a delete button, which doesn't actually delete episodes but makes everything look as if it's unloaded and unplayed. Here's what you're not getting, programmers. People who start listening to a podcast that has 100 episodes want to know what they've listened to and what they haven't. With the recent update and the alleged fix, we cannot do this. Again, by getting rid of the delete function, what problem were you trying to fix? And what's the barrier to simply restoring the ability to delete episodes?
This is a really nice app, the best podcast app I have worked with, and worth the money for sure. BUT...I listen to many premium podcasts that are paid subscriptions and require a user name and password. Pocketcasts does not "officially" support this. I have managed to get it to work with one or two but not the rest of them. Adding a premium podcast using the Apple Podcast app on my iPad prompts for the user name and password, and I'm good to go, Pocketcasts will not recognize the feed. On my Pixel XL 2 I will have to use a different app. Too bad, I would give this five stars if it worked. Very dissapointing.
Best podcast app by far. One thing it could do with though is a suggestions/recommendations feature. The current top/trends/featured is nice, but does seem to focus on particular types of podcast. It would be nicer if it were more personalised.
Greatest podcast app ever made. I tried so many others before I caved and bought this. It was the best decision! Very simple, yet feature-rich podcast manager. Definitely worth every penny and more!
Great podcast app but what it doesn't tell you is that if you want to use the sync feature, you have to fork out more money. The only reason I mistakenly bought this app. Free ones do it all for free
Best Podcast app handsdown. Only missing functionality is a history of podcasts that I've already listened to, ordered by the date I listened to them. A must for sharing stuff that was good, currently after you listen to one, the record just disappears..
Used to love this paid for app but now I'm regretting it as the app seems to be losing instead of gaining functionality & it seems like it no longer works properly. Case in point: I know for a certainty that one of the podcasts I subscribe to has had numerous new episodes but the app isn't registering any new episodes since October? Very disappointing
RIP Pocketcasts (2012- Aug 2017). Another good app going downhill ! After each update it breaks or lost functions. In the current state, it's simply not worth it! Moreover, Only 2 more features than free AntennaPod. Skip silences and Android Auto support. highly overrated app! It has about half the features of Podcast Addict. No trial version is simply too much arrogance! The developer NEVER reply to queries. Buy podcast addict for more features or you'll get all this features in AntennaPod. (Edit: and yes, fire Sharma)
This app used to be the best podcast app on the market until one the updates broke it. The app will close intermittently when a podcast is playing. I've contacted tech support twice about this issue, and they've ignored my responses. Absolutely terrible tech support and app. Avoid like the plague!
I love this app. Not five stars since I have one issue with it. If a podcast has two episodes come out on the same day one of them will automatically be marked as played. I see the same thing if two episodes are in the feed on the same month and day too regardless of year.
This was my go to podcast app but lately it's been acting weird and is pretty much unusable. Many of my episodes are starting mid way through the cast even though the display time says they have just started and regularly episodes won't auto download. It may work for you, but it doesn't for me..
Lacking some useful functions like being able to group podcasts by category. Is very finicky about streaming over data - takes about 3 clicks per Podcast episode, which is really annoying when driving. Lacks a lot of the features of overcast on iOS. Or the basic apple podcast app - there's no way to search for phrases in podcast episode descriptions, ie "I'm looking for a podcast episode discussing X".
Best podcasting app I've ever used. I love the tweaks you can make on a per-podcast basis (volume boost, skip silence, playback speed, etc.) Also the devs are fantastic. Love the patch notes as well. Edit: my previous review noted that the addition of a pure black theme would be nice, but the devs have since added that too. Awesome!
Please please fix the pausing issue. It's driving me crazy and I just can't find a solution. This is my favorite podcast app and can't listen to anything on it.
Works perfect, with sync, personalised organisation, recommendations and more. Just very annoying that you need to subscribe to a podcast to see their episodes, and that there's no option to stream podcasts instead of downloading them when I have low storage space
Very frustrating to lose functionality, was s brilliant app! Beyond frustrated now, it keeps downloading episodes that I've listened to and marks them as unplayed. It worked perfectly about 3 months ago!
Overall the app is really good. On my Samsung S5 the app fails to quickly download podcasts when at home with acces to WiFi. The downloads take a long time and when I have a list of podcasts to download they seem to get stuck on 'waiting'. Basically can only download one at a time as opposed to letting a few download over night. Hopefully this will be fixed by upgrades.
Bought for the Sonos support which has not progressed into something useful. Wasted money, wasted time, and slows down the Sonos app. Very poor, time to uninstall.
It was 5/5 once. But updates have truly ruined this. It's buggy, wifi dls take ages, podcasts don't appear even when they're out. If only I could go back to a better version.
It's pretty great at what it does, honestly. The reason my rating is so low is that they removed the option to allow you to delete old podcast episodes from the list. So if you're going back to listen to a show's back episodes, it's either all of them displayed or none of them. That's really annoying when it's something like a podcast audiodrama, where you don't want all 45 back episodes shown at the same time.
Been a loyal user for years now, but something has gone terribly wrong. It now no longer plays any podcast, press play on a downloaded podcast (or attempt to stream one) and the app does nothing, after a few seconds the progress bar jumps straight to the end and reports the podcast duration at over a day long (29 something hours). :-(
Updated to 5 star... Thank you for the trash can. It's important to me because I like to keep things as long as I choose and remove them after more than one listen.
This app is not the most intuitive. And automatically playing podcasts is not it's strong suit. The biggest complaint is that the app uses so much battery power even in airplane mode.
I use this app every single day. It's easy to navigate, nice to look at, and has every feature I could ever think of. I use the sleep timer and change my playback speed often. Removing silence is also very useful. There's no better podcast app out there- they're mostly Ok but this one is the best
The most important feature (episode sync across devices) is totally broken and not working. If you Google it you'll see others having the same issue with sync not working. It's been broken for almost a year. Still no fix in sight. Disappointing..
This app has every feature you could want from a podcatcher, yet doesn't feel bloated. It's nice to look at, easy to navigate, and updated fairly frequently.
Could you please add the ability to pull in a feed from Patreon? I subscribe to a few podcasts through that and it would greatly simplify things if this app could handle them directly. Thanks! Other than that, love this app to death.
This was a great app for a while. Now, new episodes of podcasts have not updated for 8 days, while I have verified that new episodes are available. Without the ability to listen to new content, this app is pretty useless. Unfortunately I am looking for an alternative.

Sorry you are experiencing an issue. Please let me know which podcast this is for and I will take a look into the problem. Used to be great but now no longer downloads automatically on WiFi. I'm having to use my data allowance during the day to get podcasts at work which used to be downloaded overnight. What happened to the schedule update function?
It's not a bad podcast app, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to make it play podcast episodes in sequence. Also, I really wish there was a way to keep more than 10 episodes at once. I would prefer a custom option where I can set my own limit.
Lack of development, stagnated app. There should be more playback controls on lock and notification areas. Otherwise, the app just provided bare bone podcast listening. Was comparatively much better when I payed for the app.

What's New
Version 6.4.6. I mean those numbers look great together, don't get me wrong, but real talk: I can't wait for 7.4.7. Anyway some new things for you to enjoy:
- New Extra Dark OLED theme for all you lovers of black pixels. They don't get much blacker than THE ONE TRUE black. The app no longer restarts when you switch themes either.
- Fixed some issues with download URLs not changing properly when the author updates them.
- Fixes for picture in picture and chromecasting.
