This app does just about everything right in my opinion. First, the player UX is perfect with the skip ahead / back controls in the right spots. Additionally, it's unobtrusive by default (i.e. it doesn't auto-download or notify unless you tell it to). The search feature could use some improvement: I'd like an easier way to filter by language.
Despite some UX issues, this was my favorite podcast app. I used to recommend it to everyone. However, after I updated my phone to Android 7.x the app is falling apart. The main issue now is the handshake error when downloading episodes from some of my favorites shows. I found online that this error was reported almost a year ago and nothing was done yet. Whatever though, I'm trying different apps (such as CastBox) and they don't have this issue.
THE definitive podcast app, hands down. If you like podcasts, this is the app. Don't go to Google play music or Spotify, buy one less pint next Friday, and use it to buy this app. I never miss podcasts with it's Auto updates and downloads. It's a clean and easy to use interface, and the search function searches all podcasts site, so whatever you listen to is probably here. Also, I always enjoy their very silly patch notes :P
This would be perfect if it could be set up to automatically play the next podcast in your queue. As it stands now, when you're driving and an episode ends, you have to wait until you're at your destination to start another episode.
Pocket Cast is my most used app. The UI is very easy to use and looks good. Pocket Casts has nearly every feature that I could imagine, but doesn't clutter up the screen with them like some other podcatchers that I've tried. My favorite feature is cross device sync, for when I want to switch from phone to tablet without loosing my place. As a bonus all of the documentation is funny and well written.
Nice interface. However, why does the podcasts default as played when I subscribe... Also, the app is overheating my phone... Other podcast apps and music apps don't do this to my phone
Version 6.3 is here! I bet some of you thought we'd go 6.2.10 or maybe just Pocket Casts 58.3783.5238738 like those weird peeps on the Chrome team. But no, you were all wrong we're back with just a sane update number, sorry. New in this version is support for our
