The EDIS client developed by RSOE works closely with the online EDIS website. From now on, new events appear not only on the EDIS website but also in the RSOE EDIS Notifier smartphone application. Using PUSH technology, the application gives you real time information about the events of the world. All you need is an Android phone and an active internet connection. There are five notification levels (5 – emergency, 4 – alert, 3 – warning, 2 – notification, 1 – information), each of which you can assign a different notification sound for. You can also set the so called quiet hours during which you only receive level 5 messages. If you prefer not to have any notification sounds, you can turn on LED blinking or vibrate mode in the settings menu.
This is the first RSOE EDIS Android application. This is a Lite version, currently a work in progress. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

‘Emergency +’ is a national app developed by Australia's emergency services and their Government and industry partners, helping people to call the right number at the right time, anywhere in Australia. The app uses a mobile phone's GPS functionality so callers can provide emergency call-takers with their location information as determined by their smart phone. ‘Emergency+’ also includes SES and Police Assistance Line numbers as options, so non-emergency calls are made to the most appropriate number.
When calling Triple Zero (000), remember to stay focused, stay relevant, and stay on the line. Before you call, ask yourself:
* Is someone seriously injured or in need of urgent medical help?
* Is your life or property being threatened?
* Have you just witnessed a serious accident or crime?
If you answered 'Yes' to any of these questions, call Triple Zero (000). Triple Zero calls are free.
This app is intented to be placed on main screen for easy access.
Setup is straightforward. You are prompt to enter the emergency number the first time and it is set forever.
Please note that the 2-clicks are meant to ensure that there is no accidental calling to an emergency numbe, but please use with care.
Note: if you want to erase the number, you can go to Applications->Manage Applications->Emergency->Clear Data

We have spent the past four years working with the New Zealand Red Cross to create a solution. We call it the Serval Mesh, and it is free software that allows smart-phones to communicate, even in the face of catastrophic failure of cellular networks.
It works by using your phone's Wi-Fi to communicate with other phones on the same network. Or even by forming impromptu networks consisting only of mobile phones. Mesh communications is an appropriate technology for complementing cellular networks. Think of it like two-way radio or CB radio that has been propelled into the 21st century. For long-range communications you will still need to make use of cellular or fixed telephone networks or the internet.
This software allows you to easily make private phone calls, send secure text messages and share files in caves, in subways, in the Outback, in Australia or Africa, in Europe or the United States -- even when cellular networks fail or are unavailable.
You can also keep using your existing phone number on the mesh, which is really important in a disaster when people are trying to get back in contact with each other.
* Is completely open and open-source; free for all
* Can be carried and activated in seconds by those who need it when it is needed
* Is carrier independent
* Can be installed during an emergency from only one phone
* Is distributed nature makes network resilient
* Can use your existing phone number
* Encrypts mesh phone calls and mesh text messages by default
* Can distribute pictures, videos and any other files
C Spire Emergency Alerts allows C Spire customers who do not have WEA compatible smartphones to receive WEA text notifications in the event local or national emergencies such as tsunamis, earthquakes, severe weather and Amber Alerts. If you’re located in an affected area or travel into one while the WEA alert is active, you’ll receive free notification messages tailored for your local area. The WEA system is local to the county level, so you won’t receive messages that don’t apply to you.
C Spire Emergency Alerts requires a non-WEA compatible smartphone running Android 2.1 or higher. If your phone is WEA compatible, you don’t need to install this app.

Quick Instruction: Basically you just have to install the app, ensure you are connected to the internet and tap on connect to Luz Network button. Then just let the app run in the background (it uses very little memory and only makes network data usage when needed)... Whenever there is an important weather update you will automatically receive an alert notification (You can enable enable sound for this from your phone's settings)
-This app does not carry out any weather forecasting on its own. It brings to you the latest weather news and updates from the official weather forecasting bodies. It is not meant to be used as an alternative to official weather bulletins but to be used for informative purposes.
-This is still a beta version of the application and still not fully tested, so ensure you use it consciously.
Quick Description: This app is very simple in that it is build to use very less resources. Its primary purpose is to provide you with weather notifications. Whenever your device has some internet access, the application connects to the Luz network to get the latest weather updates. The weather updates are gathered in the form of notifications and stored on the device even when you are not using it. You may enable sounds for your notifications to alert you whenever you receive a notification. The application makes light network data usage and only when important weather updates are available.
-To enable notifications, you must click on the connect to Luz network button in the app and ensure you are connected to the internet while doing so.
-Then you may leave the app open while using other applications, it will then continuously monitor for weather updates in the background.
-Note: On the app's home, the official weather websites for the Mauritius and the vicinity islands can be accessed.
