myGovID is an easy and secure way to prove who you are online. While your myGov account is your gateway to government online services, myGovID proves who you are – it’s like the 100 point ID check on your phone. At present you cannot use your myGovID to access myGov.
Set up your myGovID once, then use it to unlock selected government online services when you want and where you want. Your myGovID can be used for personal or business matters, or both. More and more government online services are using myGovID.
You can set up your myGovID in three easy steps:
1. Download the myGovID app
2. Set up your myGovID by giving your full name, date of birth and verifying your email address. The email address you use must only belong to you.
3. Prove who you are with two of the following identity documents. Your details are checked against existing government records.
•Australian driver’s licence
Your personal information won’t be shared without your permission - putting you in control.
myGovID meets Australian Government standards which strictly controls how your identity data is used. myGovID uses the security features in your device, such as fingerprint or face, to protect your identity and help prevent other people accessing your information.
