About this app

Learn more about the biodiversity of South Australia. See detailed descriptions of South Australia’s mammals, reptiles, birds, insects and marine life combined with stunning images and sounds. This app provides a rich reference that can be used in urban, bush and coastal environments. The content has been developed by scientists from the South Australian Museum and other museums around the country. The app holds descriptions of more than 800 species, encompassing birds, fishes, lizards, snakes, mammals, marine invertebrates, insects, spiders, snails, slugs, butterflies and moths. This is still only a fraction of the complete faunal record of South Australia. Our team will continue to add new species and refine descriptions.

If you have trouble either downloading the app or with the app crashing, please refer to our app support page.(http://museumvictoria.com.au/discoverycentre/museum-victoria-apps/mv-field-guide-to-victoria-app/support/)

This app has been recommended to South Aussie families from the NaturePlaySA website in 2021. I just downloaded it but any species I click on I receive an error that the app hasn't been updated in while and may not work on my current phone, which isn't very current, a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G. From the species photos I can see, the app looks great, I just can't use it.

Seriously needs updating. Love being outdoors with my camera. I see things that show this app is not that accurate with habitat etc.. Great app otherwise.
