Yumplatok Baibol represents many years work by People of the Torres Strait who worked with Michael and Charlotte Corden. The work has continued from the time when Michael and Charlotte were a newly married couple until 2014 and beyond. You would have to say that this has been a major chunk of their working life. Luke's Gospel on DVD in Yumplatok is a great supplement to the the work. It is great to see that Church People of different denominations on Masig (Yorke Island) are working together to make it easy for people to read Yumplatok and this language is being used when reading the Bible in Church and when preaching. People who have played a major role are Auntie Vida, Mrs Marie Mosby wife of the late Bishop Ted, Pastor Moses Mene, and quite central to the success of the whole project Fr Ned Mosby. Fr Ned tells me that he now feels confident to read in church in Yumplatok. Late last year my wife Judy and I had the opportunity to visit the Torres Strait and to encourage the use of Yumplatok Baibol and the transltion of sections of God's Word into traditional language of Western Torres Strait Minar Poelayzimayl. I will attempt to put us the link to Minar Poelayzimayl soon.
