BBC Weather app and your privacy:
The BBC Weather app allows you to see weather information based on your current location. When you first install the app, we’ll ask you whether you wish to enable this option. You can turn this feature on/off at any time via Settings > Apps > BBC Weather > Permissions > Locations.

If you choose to enable this feature for the BBC Weather widget, we request permission to access your device’s location while the app is closed or not in use. This ensures that the widget can continuously display the most up-to-date forecast for your current location.

About BBC Weather:
BBC Weather is responsible for preparing and broadcasting weather forecasts across the BBC, in association with the MeteoGroup. It broadcast its first weather forecast in 1922 and by 1936 was pioneering the use of weather maps during TV forecasts. The BBC Weather app was launched in 2013 and is now one of the most popular weather apps in the UK.

Ratings and reviews

Lots of bugs. Example icon shows temperature down to -5 tonight, however looking into the night, or full 24 hour period, the app shows a low of - 2. This has been ongoing for at least a year. Feedback option in app not working, so just goes to show how the BBC value customer feedback! Also when opening, app opens not on correct/current location! Basic stuff that the BBC never fixes, despite customer feedback!

Incredibly annoying that you can't select your home town & keep that as the default selection when you open the app. Every time you open the app you have to go to the menu, go to my locations & then select the saved town, which is highly frustrating. The app is based around 'location' being permanently turned on, for security reasons plenty of sensible people do not do this and never will. It wouldn't be hard just to make it an option to have a default location which the app opens on.

It no longer loads my postcode area. It just keeps it on a list of recent searches. I have to reselect it each time. It then just shows me a blank page with a brief weather summary for the day, I have to swipe left to actually see the true weather which is often different...and inaccurate. It also won't let me delete previous searches.
