Belgahay Radio: From dream to reality

BelgaHAY Radio began life in 2016 under the umbrella of Radio Campus, broadcasting in Armenian for two hours every week on FM 92.1. The broadcasts began with the efforts of Aris NALCI and Linda Yalman, and evolved with the participation of Ashkhen Fixova Davtyan, Lilit Karapetyan, Carole Arissian and Suzanne Kananian.

This project, created in response to the lack of an Armenian radio station in Belgium, participated in a competition organized by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in 2020, and was selected among the 18 independent radio stations to obtain broadcasting rights in the region. .

In 2021, following the modernization of the DAB+ infrastructure in the Kingdom of Belgium, the BelgaHAY project began broadcasting full-time in Armenian and French. This radio, created with the aim of preserving, promoting and developing Armenian culture, continues its broadcasts today thanks to the participation of numerous volunteers.

The project aims to establish a link between the Armenian community in Belgium and wider society, with the aim of promoting Armenian culture.

Belgahay, your new radio, was launched on November 4, 2022. It aims to be neutral from both a political and confessional point of view and excludes all extremist and fascistic movements. The primary goal is to create a space for intra- and extra-community exchange and transmission. It wants to become a platform dedicated to living together and promoting strong social cohesion.

It also strives to be pluralistic both in its programming and in the languages used in order to give as many people as possible access to a variety of themes.

Radio Belgahay also aims to be a new media tool for the Armenian community in Belgium. It will aim to promote its multiple facets, whether cultural, religious, musical or other. The transmission of memory and language are obviously all objectives that your radio will pursue.

The musical programming is eclectic and is aimed at all generations and cultural backgrounds. It will continue to give a large place to Armenian creation from around the world (pop, folk, classical, urban, etc.) while also offering international popular music.

Today, the first Armenian radio in Belgium is audible in Belgium and internationally thanks to its broadcast on DAB+ in Brussels and Wallonia; on the Radioplayer.be mobile application or on your TV (Proximus, Belgahay radio).

You can also listen to us on our website: www.belgahay.be and find all the community news there.
