The National Confederation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC) is the union entity of one of the main sectors of the country's economy. Together, these categories account for about 1/4 of the Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generate approximately 25.5 million direct and formal jobs.
Maximum representative of the approximately 5 million companies in the trade in goods, services and tourism, CNC was founded on September 4, 1945. Since then, it has ensured the interests and advances of the sector in jurisdictional and advisory bodies, in Brazil and in world. In these organizations, CNC contributes to the decisions and the formulation of economic, administrative, social and environmental policy guidelines.
As part of its commitment to strengthening the sector, the entity also coordinates the Confederative System of Trade Union Representation (Sicomércio), which brings together 34 employers' federations (27 state and 7 national), which group more than 1,000 unions in the economic categories of commerce throughout Brazil.
However, CNC's performance goes beyond defending the interests of these segments. The Confederation also manages one of the largest social development systems in the world - the Social Service for Commerce (Sesc), which operates in the areas of education, health, culture and leisure, and the National Service for Commercial Learning (Senac), the main professional education agent focused on the goods, services and tourism trade sector.
