Great emu! I can play all my favorite games right on my phone. I even tried Sonic 2 & Knuckles, a.k.a. "Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic the Hedgehog 2", which I almost expected to not work at all due to the odd way the game is created. To my amazement, it worked great! I noticed the description said bug fixes are on the way. Thus far I'm loving the app, so I hope it works great for others just as it does for me. To those who are having speed issues, your device may not be powerful enough. I used to have a Samsung Intercept that was somewhat inexpensive when I bought it (100 US$), and many games were completely terrible on that (Moon Chaser comes to mind). I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy Nexus (200 US$), and things work great! I highly recommend upgrading when possible. Phone: Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean")
Dev is awesome! I love this emulator. *Free *No ads during romplay *Super-simple configuration *Customizable settings including sound quality/rate, shaders and more *Movable, resizable touch screen buttons *Runs fine with no lag or frame rate issues The only reason this review is not five-star is that there does not seem to be full support for physical keyboard controls;only the directional pad works on the physical keyboard. * Dev fixed it in a couple hours!!! Bottom line: Great app! Droid 4 Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Needs work. Every Rom I've tried so far has worked, but they've been noticeably slower than usual with the sound especially being really off. I don't know if this is because I'm using .bin files rather than zip or 7-zip files, but there's no instructions on this and the .bin files work fine on my laptop emulator. UPDATE: I figured out how to change it, you have to edit the 'sample stretch' option. It's automatically at 10, its highest setting, but I've found that putting it at 3 or 4 is the best compromise. Now my only major complaint is that, unlike NES.emu Free and Snes9x EX+, it doesn't appear that you can toggle it so that the phone menu is not on the screen while playing the games. This can be a problem as a few times I've accidentally pressed the button that takes you back to the home screen or gives you the list of all open programs (I'm using the Moto G), and this program seems to be prone to crashing easier than many other emulators. Still though, for a completely free program it does its job really well, and I hear updates are in the works, so it still comes highly recommended.
Good stuff, but two issues. All the roms i tried loaded and ran slow. I can tell because the music was slowed down. Example, Sonic the Hedgehog. I know that game's music and it is definitely not as slow as in this emulator. Also, i would like to be able to resize the screen in landscape mode. Make it just a bit smaller so the control buttons aren't on the screen.
A decent emulator but laggy. This free app does the job. The graphics and soubd work great but the default setting should not be stretching sound. Higher demanding games like Phantasy Star IV and Landstalker hit frequent processing hiccups and stutter. I'm on a qiad processor phone with little running and this still occurs. And genesis games are not that large. A good start though and it is free. Very good array of options to affect performance though none of them hit optimal megadrive speed.
It's working On any genesis rom. And, you can change ROM directory. I like it. It plays well. Some gripe is the UI need more works, sound is a bit distorted for game which require wider arangement, and I can't play two player using Mocute Bluetooth gamepad because it reads keyboard key instead individual devices. For now, I'm sticking to gGens. Maybe I'll try again in the future.
