Now survive your own College of Cardinals.
A swipe-decision game where every choice shakes the Vatican.
You have just been elected. The square is full, the cardinals are smiling — some of them — and the decisions begin immediately. Bless a same-sex union or strip a cardinal of his red hat. Sign the China accord or walk away. Sell the Vatican's London property portfolio or hold the line. Live in the Apostolic Palace or in a one-room flat in Santa Marta.
Every yes and every no echoes through 1.4 billion souls.
THE FOUR PILLARS
• THE FAITHFUL — the believers, the pilgrims, the world.
• THE CURIA — the cardinals who can have you removed.
• THE TREASURY — the Vatican Bank does not run on prayer.
• TRADITION — too much reform and the conservatives split. Too little and the progressives walk.
If any pillar collapses, your pontificate ends. There are eight distinct ways to fall — each with its own Latin-titled chapter: Sede Vacante, Magnum Schisma Occidentis, Coup d'État Apostolique, Vacui Sunt Foruli, and four more.
