Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.

Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.

Open-Source Cryptography
Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. By using open-source libraries, Proton Mail can guarantee that the encryption algorithms used do not have clandestinely built-in back doors.

Proton Mail in the press:

“Proton Mail is an email system which uses end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for outside parties to monitor.” Forbes

“A new email service being developed by a group from MIT that met at CERN promises to bring secure, encrypted email to the masses and keep sensitive information away from prying eyes.” Huffington Post

You cannot send emails as the send icon rarely works. But you may not get that far - the app refreshes while typing your email and you lose it. Most often does not save the draft. If you ever do get it to send, your recipient will tell you they got a blank email. Also, it takes forever to open and to display a folder that you switch to, like over a minute. Even when reading emails, the app will refresh and place you back at the top. Stop developing and just revert back to what you had a year ago

Hi! Our team is actively working on resolving the sending issue you report as soon as possible. In the meantime, please refer to our suggestions available at: https://proton.me/support/troubleshooting-sending-messages-android. We've recently started beta testing the early version of the rewritten app, that should enhance its core features.

I'm a paying user and I'm pretty disappointed in the app, for which I had high hopes. In the past couple of years it's worked quite well with no glitches. But in the last couple of months, the mail app has become unreliable. Connections time out. Drafts get sent without my asking to have them sent. Some emails get sent without all of the content I added. Recipients report getting blank emails. I opened a support case but things have not improved. Look, I don't want to go back to Gmail. Help!

This app is terrible. When I had the free version a couple of years ago, it worked great. So I upgraded to a paid version to support the company. I have been having trouble with it ever since, with short periods of it working perfectly. 1) When I'm scrolling through my inbox, it will flicker and go back to the top of the list, over & over. 2) It frequently doesn't save drafts, so when I click Send, if it actually goes, the recipient receives a blank email. There's more but not enough room here.
