Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.

Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.

Open-Source Cryptography

The zoom feature could have some more thought put into it, when I try zooming the screen zooms to the top left of the email which makes me have to scroll to the part where I wanted to zoom which is a little annoying. I chose this app mainly for privacy so I got what I wanted, but this feature needs improvement. Also it would be helpful if I could send rendered HTML files on the desktop version.

What is going on with this app?? Every email I open, I need to press the allow external content button multiple times. It just keeps refreshing. I zoom into an email and it refreshes. Best part: I will reply to an email and in the middle of typing it out, it refreshes, bringing me back to the email I am replying to. This is incredibly frustrating. Now, even the Send button seems partially broken. You press it and there is zero feedback or confirmation of that happening, and sends eventually.

I really like this email as an alternative to services like Google. However, the app causes me all sorts of problems. Often, emails won't send properly and I have to clear the cache to try to get them through. The drafts folder often fills up with incomplete past drafts that I've already sent the related email. Lately, when I send an email, it sometimes cuts off the most recent changes or text, which is very aggravating.
