About this app

Flamingo Fares is the new way to pay your transit fare in the Tampa Bay area.

The new and improved Flamingo Fares features:
Expanded transit fare options (daily, monthly, etc.)
Save as you ride (Instead of buying passes in advance you earn them as you go. You'll never pay more than a day pass in a day, or a month pass in a calendar month)
Easy account access and pass purchasing (online, mobile, and in-store)
Balance protection for registered cards
Auto reload so you'll never be without fare
One way to pay for Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay counties currently participating in Flamingo Fares: Hernando (TheBus), Hillsborough (HART), Pasco (PCPT), and Pinellas (PSTA/Jolley Trolley).

Flock this way! Register your Flamingo Fares account at www.FlamingoFares.com.

The Flamingo Fares app was designed for use on a smartphone device. Attempting to use the app on other mobile devices (tablet, iPad, etc.) may result in payment failure, requiring an alternative payment method

Horrible! There is no way to turn off top-ups. I added $11 to my pass, and immediately afterward, they processed 4 more transactions of $20 each, totaling an additional $80 from my account! When I called PTSA, they would only refund $20 of the $80 they took without approval. They could clearly see that I did not approve these transactions. I keep calling them and the last time they told me that they couldnt refund it because the transaction was complete! They stole money from & they know the did

Honestly this isn't a bad app most of the time. It's better than carrying around a bunch of change or paying for a $70 a month pass when I wasn't using the full amount. However, both me and my sister have been experiencing an issue where no matter how we hold our phones, it always says "tap again". We've tried the new tap feature and the barcode scanner but it's the same thing every time. Luckily the driver's are nice and still let us on but it's a frustrating issue. Please fix this.

Accidentally un-installed the app. When I reinstalled and signed it, it showed me still having $18.35 on my bus pass in the "manage" tab, but showed me having no bus pass on the "use" tab. I was forced to create a new pass and now currently have a pass with almost $20 that I am unable to use. [Previous 5* review] Better than a physical bus pass. Tracks your spending so you automatically get usage-based discounts.

What's new

Near Field Communication (NFC) introduced (Android): Flamingo Fares Android app users will now be able to tap their smartphones in front of the onboard Flamingo Fares reader to pay their fare – no need to scan your barcode!
Wallet Suppression: Wallet suppression is a function that blocks Google Wallet, or any other digital wallet from launching from NFC-enabled phones at the time of fare payment. This allows for the Flamingo Fares reader to properly validate the customer's e-fare QR code
