Review from Mikhail Sivashinsky
The app has potential, but at least with did not really show it fully. First of all the registration feature does not work, so if you switched to a different phone, tough luck. The tracking methods all three of them often jsut stop working and the app shows zero tracked time. But when it comes to this sort of apps, this one is still the best out there. Others are even more buggy or simply do not work.
I love this app but there are some issues with it. Specially when it comes closing apps that I whitelisted. For example It tends to close some of the phone settings even when I whitelist it. I feel like this app would work better if it show all the apps and documents in the system and allowed you to blacklist or whitelist them. Not a major issue but still. If I'm telling the app to whitelist my settings then it should. A very good example of this is when I go to settings and I want to modify the edge panels (I'm using a Samsung) it completely blocks it. So if I try to whitelist the app or settings I cannot find it in the list of apps provided.
I've tried all the main distraction blocking apps, and I keep coming back to off time. I only need to be blocked from the internet ( I REALLY NEED to be blocked from the internet and reading news), but I also need access to all the other functionality of my phone. Offtime lets me make and receive calls, access everything I need in a day (not just two or three apps like other distraction blockers), and it has a scheduler that makes blocking automatic. I also like that I can choose how difficult I want it to be to turn Offtime off, because I need it to be hard. Other apps are too easy to get through. This is the last time I'm trying anything else, because offtime is really the best there is.
Overall, the concept of the app's timer is useful and effective. However, I believe the phone usage time-tracking feature needs quite a bit reworking. Even if my phone is turned off and unused the entire time, if I receive a text message that I don't open until 6 hours later OFFTIME will record it as me having used the messaging app for 6 hours.
Why does it need me to re-approve the permission access every fricking day?? It's not because of updates, I turned off auto updates so I do it manually and know it hasn't been updated on these days yet it still loses my permissions all the time. Why. Worked fine until I upgraded to full version, now it lets through notifications during OFFTIME, and lets me open apps that are not on the white list. Please fix.
DUDE the power saving function of phone closes the app and app then stays closed. No auto start happens. Kindly help. Maybe this is a bug. EDIT : If you're not not gonna interact with your consumers how do you think you can sustain this app ? I have paid for your app and find headache in communication or interaction with you for my issues. Come on man, I trust you can do better.
Sent bug issue few months ago about scheduled calendar repeating its loop day when deleted, acting as if it weren't. I love the app but the fact this still is not fixed, nor the fact I had no reply to my mail is unsatisfying for someone who paid for the pro version and wanted to donate more.
