About this game

Fonitterne is a fun and motivating learning games that reinforce children's aural awareness and allows them to practice their pronunciation skills.

Fonitterne caters for children from 3-7 years of age and is designed to help children with phonological pronunciation difficulties. Gameplay is inspired by Popt method (Psycholinguistisch orientierte Phonologie-Therapie, Fox-Boyer (2015)) and coach the child's aural awareness through a number of distinguishable and imitation exercises that precisely target the areas of the sound system, which is difficult for the individual child.

The game is designed as a role-playing video game where the player explores an unknown world inhabited by tiny creatures called fonitter. The player has the task of finding and catching a certain type fonitter, for example, all those who say syllables or words of s.

In Fonitterne we support 9 of the most frequent phonological processes in Danish children so that children with phonological pronunciation difficulties can work with just the lydpar and contrasts, the greatest joy of:

Phonological processes in Fonitterne:

- Fronting (k → T, G → d, ng → n → p sj)
- Backing (t → k d g →, n → ng, p → sj)
- stopping (f → b → d s)
- lateralization (j → l, r → l)
- Nasal ring (l → n)
- H-sation (r → h)
- aspiration (b → p, d t →, g → k)
- Deaspiration (p → b, d t →, k → g)
- Slip (l → j)

It is our vision that the game can be used as a supplement to the logopædiske education - therefore we have developed a separate Teacher module, where the child's speech therapist has the possibility to create a training program for the child with relevant homework. From there, the speech therapist follow the child's progression through the game's listening and pronunciation exercises and view statistics about the child's typical errors. You can read more about Fonitterne and teacher module on our website: www.fonit.net

From the date of purchase, you will have access to Fonitterne in minimum 12 months
