Rain is recycled water that has evaporated from our oceans, rivers, lakes and streams. Raindrops form from ice / snow crystals at the cloud level. Oddly enough rain starts out as a flat oval and then as it falls it changes into the classic tear drop shape. The size of a drop usually ranges from .02 inches to .031 inches.

Rain then can fall at speeds up to 22 MPH. It is typically classified into two types: light and heavy. Light rain is considered to be an accumulation of no more than .10 inches per hour while heavy is anything more than .30 inches per hour.

The demand for water has been growing by 1% per year for the past 75 years - on average, you use 150 liters of water a day. 30% of treated mains water is used to flush toilets - a properly installed rainwater collection system could save all this water. In offices, schools and other commercial (non-residential) premises, this figure can rise to 80% of mains treated water. The roof on a 'typical' four bed family home captures more than 100,000 liters (100 cm) of rainwater a year. Many commercial premises have much greater roof areas so rainwater capture can be much greater. A typical family uses 70,000 liters year on toilet flushing, clothes washing, and outside use. Even a regulated flush uses 5 liters of water; it’s easy to multiply that by the numbers in an office and average use.

Download Drops Live Wallpaper and save as much water as you can, plus make your day enjoyable and pleasant with small raindrops sliding down your phone.
