Recent update did not fix any issues. Chromecast does not stay connected. The app is extremely slow when navigating around it. It never remembers progress. App developers, please go use the Netflix app for a model of how a video streaming app should work. Edit: In response to the suggestion to contact the support team, I've emailed support about 3 times over the last year and haven't heard anything back.
New Update Review It still works & plays over Chromecast, but is unable to disconnect. Was the best TV Video Streaming App (still the best for content,) but it took 5 steps back, with the new, super buggy update. Also people, the new UI is nothing special. Hell, I think Starz & FX have a better platform. SMH HBO...SMH
All good before update. I just updated this app and suddenly it loves to crash. I am trying to watch Ballers and it gets as far as the HBO logo, then when it comes time to show the program, "Unfortunately HBO GO has stopped." WTF did you guys do?!
Shuts down every time you try to watch a show. Doesn't play anything. Like what is the point in paying cable and then having a way to watch a episode on a app when not at home and then now not being able to do that anymore. This needs to be fix!! Try to watch something and it say HBO has stopped. Horrible service!
Garbage. Utter garbage. You get the first 9 seconds then app closes. Even though the previous versions were clunky, they worked. This version is so bad, I doubt it was beta tested. Does HBO pay their devs in marbles? Because if not, they might want to question what these clowns have done. Right now this app is nothing but a less clunky movie catalog to browse though.
I thought the HBO application on the Samsung TV was bad until I tried this app on my phone, casting to my Chromecast. It's horrible: - It does not stay connected to the Chromecast if I turn off my screen. I have to reconnect every time I want to pause or start. - It does not stop the Chromcast app when I disconnect. It still shows HBO GO on my TV. - It keeps the phone screen on even though I am watching on my Chromecast. - It does not have controls on the notification bar, the lock screen or an Android Wear watch. - The control panel at the bottom of the screen covers the information of the show displayed at the bottom even when minimized. - There is no convenient way to binge watch, having the next episode start automatically. Really guys can't you take a look at the Netflix application to see how it's done?
