Review from A Google User
Plz allow HDMI The technology is available for HBO to let users have HDMI access... C'mon epics and verizon apps have it, HBO is big enough to have same capability as the other companies... If not buy it just keep your customer happy!!! WILL GIVE 5 STARS AFTER THAT HAPPENS!
Love HBO, don't like their app with Chromecast. Doesn't start next episode automatically. If you close your phone, and reopen, it doesn't show where you left off, so I have to close the entire app and hope it allows me to pause wherever I am on the TV. Have to turn off the TV just to get it to refresh itself.
The user interface is absolutely pathetic. I've been using the app for years because HBO has such fantastic content, but it has never had a major update in all the time I've used it. I find it hard to believe that this was created by professional programmers and designers. It seems like a project for an Android development class, functional and passing, but not what I would expect from HBO.
This app freezes on me constantly. It happens on every device I watch it on even when I have updated the app and have a strong phone signal. It will freeze for about 10 seconds a time. I was watching an hour long tv show and it froze on me 12 times. So frustrating.
It's a shame how often this service is down. Either it's down for everything, down for mobile devices only, or giving me sign in problems, this service seems to be working less than it actually works. Get your service in order and I'll change my rating. UPDATE: No longer has a persistent notification when streaming to Chromecast. It's embarrassing how inferior this app is to Netflix.
I am unable to set likes and dislikes and add entire series to my list, it adds only specific episodes. There isn't the ability for auto play or continuous play. The app also expects me to remember where I left watching and doesn't auto play from where I last left the series but remembers only where I left any episode
The playback is super choppy. I get 15-30 seconds at time. I've got full LTE service, and other video streaming apps work just fine in the same areas
