This app helps people learn an accurate reading technique.
The special thing about it is: Any text can be used for it.
Adults and young people no longer have to resort to first-time reading books or apps for children that do not match their interests in terms of content. They can practice reading with exactly the texts they are interested in.
The BesserLesen app prepares texts in a brain-friendly way, making them readable without overwhelming the brain. To do this, the app always highlights the exact syllable that is currently being read. Tapping the screen highlights the next syllable, allowing each word of the text to be read syllable by syllable. This reading technique improves reading in general.
The app contains the following functions:
Text input:
You can type in your own texts or copy any text into it. This can be, for example, emails or newspaper articles. Texts from books can also be photographed and copied with an external text recognition program (OCR), or texts can be spoken using voice input. This means that any text that the reader is interested in can be read. The entered texts can be deleted or saved for later reading.
Read:
There are two areas in reading mode: the word currently to be read is displayed at the top and the text at the bottom. In order to concentrate better on one area, the other can be hidden using the eye icon.
Tapping the screen highlights the next syllable. The current word can be repeated and there are buttons for:
* Word forwards / backwards
* Sentence forward / backward
Save texts:
Saved texts are displayed in the text memory. When you select a text, you can mark it as a favorite by tapping the star. This means that the text is always displayed at the top of the list. The texts can also be deleted and changed.
Save exercises / words:
Words from texts can be saved in their own exercise lists so that they can be practiced in a more targeted manner. In addition, you can also create your own exercise lists by entering text and save them in your own exercises.
Exercises:
There are three different exercise areas in the exercise area: reading syllables, reading pseudo-words, reading words and doing your own exercises. The lists contained therein increase in difficulty.
* Syllable reading: These word lists only contain word lists with single syllables. This makes reading words easier because the single syllable can be recognized more quickly. It also contains lists of the individual sounds and lists of prefixes and suffixes.
* Pseudo-word reading: When words that don't make sense can be read, real words can be read more easily. Depending on the difficulty, the length and number of consonants contained in the pseudo-words to be read varies.
* Word Reading: These word lists contain a basic vocabulary of 3,000 words.
Settings:
* Syllable reading: Words are displayed as a whole syllable, but each syllable is highlighted separately. When you click further, the next syllable is marked.
* Colored syllables: The syllables are alternately colored red / black.
* Syllable dashes: The additional separation of syllables by dashes can be switched on and off.
* Measure speed: To check the reading speed, the app can measure how many syllables are read per minute.
* Random order: To avoid the practice effect, the words in the lists can be displayed in random order.
* Flashing: In order to train the quick recognition and reading of the words, a time can be set after which the displayed words disappear again. This trains the quick word recognition.
