About this game

With this app, children practice clock telling on a clock (analog clock) and a digital clock.
Clocking is part of counting. In elementary school, clock telling is taught using the calculation method. Many calculation methods quickly go through this subject.
With this clock view app, children can quietly practice this subject at ease.

The exercises in this app are divided into different levels.
This gives you an idea of the order in which children learn to tell time in school.

The exercises:

LEVEL 1 (full hours, half hours, quarters and mix)
* What time is it? Choose from three answers.
* Set the clock to the correct time.
* What time is it? Write down the correct answer.
* On which clock is it…. hour? Choose from four clocks.

LEVEL 2 (full hours, half hours, quarters, 5 minutes, minutes and mix)
* What time is it? Choose from three answers.
* Set the clock to the correct time.
* What time is it? Write down the correct answer.
* What time is it in ... .. hours? Choose from three clocks.
* On which clock is it…. hour? Choose from four clocks.
* Set the clock ... hours later.
* Put the four clocks in the correct order.

LEVEL 3 analog clock and digital clock (full hours, half hours, quarters, 5 minutes and mix)
* What time is it? Choose from three digital clocks.
* What time is it? Choose from three typed answers.
* What time is it? Record your answer in hours and minutes (just like with a digital clock!).
* Put the four digital clocks in the correct order.
* Which two clocks belong together? (analog clock and digital clock).

LEVEL 4 analog clock and digital clock (full hours, half hours, quarters, 5 minutes and mix)
* How much later is it (you see two analog clocks)? Record your answer in hours and minutes (just like with a digital clock!).
* How long can you play for this amount?
* How much later is it (you see two digital clocks)? Record your answer in hours and minutes (just like with a digital clock!).
* How long do you have to wait? (digital times)

How do you approach practicing clock telling with the help of this app?
Use the app to find out what your child does and does not control (yet). Start practicing at the lowest level parts. First check whether your child can read the full and half hours and then the quarters. You can also choose to try “mix” with the exercises. Especially if you are almost sure that these first three parts of the clock are going well, the option “mix” is the fastest option to check this with your child.
Is all this going well? Then you can check further at the exercises of level 2. Here the minutes are discussed.
Then check whether your child knows how to put the time in the correct order and whether your child knows what time it is about an agreed time (for example, an hour later).
Is the entire clock reading correct? Then your child can practice with the digital clock at level 3. If reading both clocks goes well, your child can practice with time awareness at level 4.
For information:
Group 3: The aim in school is that in January (M3 level) children can read the clock on the hour and half hour. At the end of group 3, the quarters are increasingly being practiced.
Group 4: Children learn to read the minutes from the clock. It is therefore important that the children can already read the hours, half hours and the quarters on the clock. At the beginning of group 4, the children learn the clock for five and ten minutes and at the end of group 4 they are offered the entire clock, including three past five (5:03 p.m.).
Group 5: At the beginning of group 5, the whole clock is repeated once again, and then the children start with the digital clock. First they practice the whole hours, half hours and the quarters. At the end of group 5, the children work with the entire analog clock and the entire digital clock.
From group 6: The children continue to work on time awareness. Think of your day planning.
