The Mauthausen Committee Austria has been training civil courage with young people since 2010. The central goals of the civil courage training are to increase the sensitivity for acting with civil courage, to expand one's own behavioral repertoire at different levels and to convey civil courage and social responsibility in the past and present. Based on the discussion of the content of the topic of civil courage, the training courses also deal with "civil courage under National Socialism".
Since 2020, separate training courses on "Civil.Courage.Online" have been offered. As part of the "Civil.Courage.Online" project, the MKÖ has developed information, training and education offers to specifically promote civil courage on online platforms among young people.
In the course of this project, the civil.courage.online app was developed, which is available free of charge. This app offers interactive exercises, videos, quizzes and argumentation training to counter hate online, fake news and conspiracy theories and to promote civil courage on online platforms.
The project "Zivil.Courage.Online" was funded by the digitization fund work 4.0 Chamber of Labor Vienna.
