About this game

Experience HG. Wells’ gripping alien invasion story like never before in the first interactive adaptation of The War of the Worlds novel.

Take control of the story as you choose-your-path through this thrilling CYOA text adventure featuring an evocative electronic score by Auto/Reflex and illustrations by famed Brazillian artist Henrique Alvim Corrêa.

Get closer to the action as you try to survive the invasion, learning more about the Martians than Wells allowed in his original text. Imagine entering the impact crater on the common, facing a dilemma to save townsfolk or yourself, or even finding yourself driving a tripod into battle on the Thames!

Science fiction and horror combine in a modern branching narrative enabled by today’s modern devices.

Story: The War of the Worlds catalogs a catastrophic conflict between humans and extraterrestrial Martians who arrive on earth with a mysterious and deadly agenda. The original work is considered a landmark of science fiction and has inspired numerous adaptations in film, TV and games since its initial publication.

After several playthroughs, I can assert that this is a faithful adaption of the HG Wells novel, with fun references to other adaptations. Note- surviving is not easy and death is sometimes jarring or gruesome. I like the story but the main character comes off as arrogant. There is an issue with the end game screen where it doesn't allow you to go back to the checkpoints. To circumvent this, if you find yourself either winning or dying, hit the back arrow before the final screen to go back.

Only real complaint is the text speed. It would be nice to tap to instantly advance the text or something along those lines. Worst part of a game over isn't watching an ad, but really it's having to just sit there as you wait for the text to advance. Even at the highest speed, it's much too slow. Having to wait two seconds between each line is painfully boring. It's fine for a first playthrough, but that alone discourages me from playing it again. I don't even know if there are multiple endings

Excellent story so far, but there's a bug which seems to completely stall story progress if you close the app, the screen simply remains blank with the background music still playing. Hoping for a fix soon.
