About this game

Two armies. One board. No dice.

Silva Obscura is a tactical strategy game where every fight is decided by strength, position and nerve — never luck. Command the disciplined legions of Rome or the savage warbands of the Horde across a 10×8 battlefield split by a band of fog, and win the way Stratego taught you to: by knowing more than your opponent, and giving away less.

Deploy in secret
Before a shot is fired, you arrange your own twelve pieces — anywhere in your own lines, in total secrecy. Bury your King in the middle of the pack. Bluff a weak unit forward where a strong one should stand. Your opponent is doing the same, and neither of you will see the other's setup. The battle is half-decided before turn one.

Bluff in the fog
Enemy units in the mist show only as a faceless silhouette — faction, nothing else — until they fight or are exposed by intel. Every piece you move is a decision about what you're willing to reveal. Every piece you hold back is a secret you're keeping.

Fight without chance
Combat is pure arithmetic: rank, bonuses, position. Higher strength wins, ties destroy both sides, and there is no dice roll to blame. Every loss is a decision you made — which makes every win one you earned.

Two armies, two ways to fight
Rome defends by standing together — its Testudo formation makes any two legionaries stronger side by side, and its officers rally, inspire and drive the line forward. The Horde attacks out of hiding — Frenzy rewards striking from the fog, war bands hunt in pairs, and a berserker trades its own life to take an enemy down with it. Learn one faction's identity and you've learned half the game; learn both and you'll out-think anyone who's only learned one.

Traps, cards and coin
Spend Denarii earned by holding ground on cards that heal, ambush, fortify or spy. Bury wolf-pits and palisades in the mud. Sound the horn to march your line forward. Every match plays differently depending on what you draw and what you're willing to pay for.

Play a friend, or the AI
Challenge a private match against someone you know, or test your army against the AI. Climb the leaderboard, rate your matches, and unlock trophies for the moments that actually take skill — killing a Praetorian with a berserker, winning by a tie against the enemy King, landing three kills in a single turn.

No pay-to-win. One unlock removes ads. Nothing you can buy makes your army stronger — every advantage in Silva Obscura is earned on the board.
