Neonatal cots are a precious NHS commodity and as such run at high occupancy. This means that many babies requiring particular expertise after delivery (e.g. prematurity, surgery) require transfer between hospitals either antenatally (in-utero) or postnatally (ex-utero). This is a complex process and delays in reaching point-of-care can have lifelong consequences for these infants and their families.

CotFinder aims is to make the transfer process more streamlined by using GPS technology and neonatal network algorithms to provide a live database of cot availability in the surrounding hospitals. Search results are arranged in order of relevance (network, expertise) and the relevant contact details of both the neonatal unit and maternity unit are provided.
