BeatRunner is a new, innovative music player that, along with the traditional features of an MP3 player, has advanced capabilities of playlist generation and of running cadence matching using the value of Beats Per Minute (BPM), all of this combined with a particular attention to interface usability and design.
It is scientifically proven (eg. Karageorghis 2011) in numerous studies the positive impact of synchronized music on runners performance, amateur and professional; This synchronization can be achieved by choosing the songs that have a rhythm similar to the cadence of the steps that you want to held. BeatRunner aims to automate this process by creating ad-hoc targeted playlists or using your smartphone's sensor to detect in real time the rhythm of the steps and thereby generating the appropriate playlist from the music library on the device.
The algorithm built into this app calculates the BPM of the tracks locally, therefore without the need of an internet connection.
