About this app

This free program (formerly known as AB CLIX) is for adults using hearing aids or cochlear implants who want to practice listening for word differences in both quiet and noise.

The ability to discriminate between vowels and consonants is a skill that improves with practice. This app is designed for both self-study or work with a friend or other party (referred to as your “Listening Coach”).

After you take the placement test, the app will suggest areas to visit where you can practice listening for words or words within phrases in a 45-level hierarchy. You can choose to add noise at any time to increase the difficulty.

WordSuccess is easy to navigate and is packed with useful features, including:

•A placement test you can take at any time which will lead you to recommended levels
•A 45-level hierarchy of word differences
•Over 2,300 recorded spoken words to test discrimination skills
•Options to practice alone or with a friend acting as a “Listening Coach”

Ratings and reviews

Although a country is required, the app does not use it nor asks for the language to be used, but dumbly assumes its English just b/c the devices UI language is set to English. No way to change. Unusable.

at Level 7 begins to score correct responses as wrong, or any response as wrong. Working at lowest levels with noise, sets of 20, many freezes. background noise plays but there's no speaking the words. volume is inconsistent. volume between background and speaker is inconsistent. clarity of speech us inconsistent. It's not just me/my implant. Same problems using my hearing aid AND had a non HOH person try this app. same issues. Reported to AB. They made appointment to talk with me some day.

Words don't line up. App unresponsive to choices. Won't turn to adapt from landscape making it not fit on my screen. Trying tablet which is larger dis not help. When signing in I cannot get the information to fit the screen on my phone. Keyboard covers the sign in area.
