With the new Gautrain App, you get all the travel information you need, when you need it. Features include:
• access Gautrain Card balances
• top-up prepaid balances and purchase fare products via secure payments
• real-time journey planning, station to station, or search for any address in Gauteng, with the option to add public transport operators in Gauteng to extend your journey options beyond the Gautrain network
• live Gautrain bus tracking, plotted on your journey map
• journey fares and schedules, with the option to request journey information up to seven days ahead
• find nearest bus and station features, with routing instructions
• link multiple Gautrain Cards to a profile
• view balance and travel history for transit cards
• log and manage claims online
• block Gautrain Cards.

The Gautrain system provides you with a safe, comfortable and reliable train service, a dedicated bus system, as well as drop-off and parking facilities at all stations (except at OR Tambo International Airport). These services are fully integrated and may be used separately or jointly by transferring from one to another. The services are all accessed by means of your Gold Card. Additional services include car rental facilities at Johannesburg Park Station, Sandton- and Pretoria Stations.

Terrible. Schedules only show the next 5 trains departing. So if it's 3am and I want to know when to leave that evening, I have to press "load more" 6 or 7 times. As though showing the whole timetable at once will overwhelm my tiny brain and confuse me. Also, stations are listed alphabetically instead of how they appear on the map, meaning Park and Pretoria stations are right next to each other on the list, despite being on opposite sides of Gauteng in real life. Easy fixes. So much room for improvement.

Initially it looked good, but using it frequently is a bit of a pain: - the intro screen takes extremely long to load and it's just for a pretty picture - nothing useful. - when you want to look at the schedules, it only shows a few lines around the current time - one has to click and download repeatedly to find departure times a bit later in the day. Very frustrating. - it's very difficult to find schedules on another day. It's better to wait until you can download the PDF's on a PC.

New features make the app unusable. It used to work perfectly until the interface changed and now you can't simply select the stations between which you wish to travel. Uninstall. Edit and update: the app does not allow you to plan future trips, see schedules for different days, etc. All it can be used for is planning a trip on the very next train. Not useful.
