AirRaterSmoke is a free app that can help you track how smoke moves in your area, and see how this affects your health. It is being used as part of research study on the community health impacts of smoke from planned burning in Victoria.
You can participate in the study if you live in Victoria and are happy to help us spot smoke in your local area.
Eye, nose and lung irritation can happen when air quality is poor, and especially when smoke is in the air. Different people experience symptoms at different levels of smoke. The app is a way for you to report any eye, nose or lung symptoms when you get them, regardless of their cause. You can record your symptoms as often as you like, especially if they change throughout the day.
The app also lets you report any bushfire smoke in your area. Telling us about smoke will add information to the existing networks of air quality monitors and sensors in Victoria.
Once you have reported your symptoms or reported when you notice smoke, AirRaterSmoke can give you information from local monitoring sites about air quality in your area.
