About this app

Airwyn lets you monitor a single public PurpleAir sensor or US EPA (AirNow) sensor. You can get ongoing silent notifications, or choose to get an audible alert when air quality index (AQI) goes up or down. This can let you make important decisions for your safety and health -- like when to go inside, and when to open or close windows.

A map gives an overview of AQI in your neighborhood, and lets you pick a PurpleAir or US EPA sensor to monitor. A simple color-coded graph shows how the air quality has changed over the last few days for your chosen sensor.

AQI conversion formulas from US EPA, LRAPA, and AQandU are supported.

Don't like ads? Airwyn Pro, available as an in-app subscription, removes all the advertising. Pro also features a home screen widget.

Disappointing. Pro is supposed to have a desktop widget, but it doesn't (not one I can find anyway, even after restart). And after less than a day, the app isn't updating properly. The value in the app/notification bar is out of sync with my sensor (and all nearby) on the PurpleAir map.

Promising app but needs improvement: Can't find a way to turn off the notification bar icon/alerts. No way to zoom in/out on the graph to view finer detail. No geolocation on the map, it lands me in California every time. Font size of the AQI on the page to monitor a sensor is too small. I'd like the ability to integrate with WUnderground local forecast. Pale red background is difficult to read, prefer plain white. The Pro version of the app needs a one-time purchase option.

Simple and works great. UPDATE: would be great to set a change threshold for the notifications. Lately I've been getting a ton of notifications because the quality keeps jumping between 49-51. UPDATE 2: Could you maybe just cache the last value locally on the device instead?

UPDATE 2: Caching the previous values locally might work (we already have them there anyway, for the graph view), but increases the workload on the phone. It's not as simple as just looking at the previous value. You have to go back at least a hundred or more observations to see if the current one is an outlier.
