About this app

This is a solution to access camera images and videos on Samsung Gear 360 (2017 version) camera.

As the official Samsung app is not working on Android 11, this solution is a workaround to continue using Gear 360 with Android mobile phone.

This application requires:
1. To install the http server on the camera
2. To run the camera in Street View (OSC) mode

Please see the detailed instructions on my Github repository for installation and connection. URL to Github repo:
https://github.com/ilker-aktuna/Gear-360-File-Access-from-Android-phones

The http server on camera will serve the files on OSC (Streetview mode) And the android application will access the files, copy them to the phone.

This application also stitches the images and videos to photosphere (360 panorama) format on user request (STITCH function)
After the stitch operation, metadata for identification of the files as 360 degree panorama is also injected to the jpg and mp4 files.

All images & videos copied from the camera are copied and saved on the phone's external storage Gear360 folder. If stitching function is used, the stitched files are also saved on the same folder.

Video stitching takes a long time.

Not perfect, but working! There are some UI bugs when your layout is used on untested font/screen sizes. Also, the stitching quality is not as good as Samsung's (no interpolation, no parallax adjustment mid-stream...). On the other hand, this program works on modern Android, and successfully copied/stitched videos the official software crashed on. Thanks for breathing life into a paperweight, dev.

I read the Github documents and installed the firmware on the SD card. start the camera and connect to the camera via wifi all looks good the app shows is connected. the problem is that I am not able to download the images to my phone. What an I missing? I am using a Samsung gs21 ultra. I see others got it to work so I am hopeful... Worked with the developer. To say he was super helpful is an understatement. Just when I was getting ready to give up he contacted me one more time and long story short the program is working and I am a very happy gear 360 owner once again.

Did you accept the permission request for Storege access ? If so, when you download images they are saved on the Gear360 folder under DCIM

I followed the github instructions and added the v2 files to my SD card and I can no longer connect to camera through Bluetooth. I can download the files from the camera fine but I have lost my live view. The stiching could also use some work but I'll take whatever I can get. It's a whole lot better than the paper weight it was.
