I can't give comment on the interface. But I love to read booka which has 1000 of pages. And the tools are good like highlter, sharing tools, dictionary. A few things I may want to have is the ability to share the colored-highlighted text to Facebook. Secondly, is it possible to set Merriam Webster as default dictionary? Thirdly, is possible to make a notes system. E.g. I want to screenshot a particular context of a book into a folder in Kindle which has name 'ABC'. When I open the folder, I have them. But all good to me so far.
The user interface just took a giant step into the porcelain receptacle. The Home carousel functionality has been reduced to an effective zero, and its size reduced to make more room for book recommendations (aka ads). I've already stopped using this app for non-Amazon titles, perhaps it's time to ditch it entirely. It's a shame really, it used to be a fairly decent app.
This latest update sucks. As it does not allow you to only have your unread books on the home screen any more without totally deleating the read books from your device. It also severely limits the number of books in the list for you to browse through. With the carousel, I was able to view all of my new unread books but not now! Home screen also offers you suggestions on what to read next. I do not need their frigging suggestions! I already have a ton of books I want to read! I will be looking for a different app now or will convert them to be read on Nook.
Bring back the carousel. Newest update removed carousel and that gui was a big part of what kept me using this app. Home screen showed easily what was currently on device. Now home screen is all screwed up. Hard to tell what is on device and what is not. Tiles are smaller and covers are harder to discern. Guess it is time to start browsing other apps to use for my ebooks. And I just lost interest in buying anymore kindle versions of a book.
Absolutely hate the latest update, and am very angry about it. The carousel has gone, and that was how I knew what I had recently purchased or downloaded. The ability to remove items from the carousel was top priority. Now books I've read a long time ago are showing up, and I can't remove them from view. So disappointed and frustrated. Another useless effort to fix what was not broken. Shame on you Amazon.
Do software designers ever use their own apps? Latest update is slow, cluttered, missing book management functions, and is now loaded with multiple carousels full of recommendations. I'm not sure how much more they could do to ruin it. If useless was their goal they succeeded. Uninstalled it, will check in a couple of weeks to see if it's been repaired.
