WiFi= OK; 4G = Error; 1/31/13 Works Great Now For that past several weeks, the app works fine using a Wi-Fi connection. Using Verizon's 4G network gives an error message [An error occurred trying to look up your train status, please try again later] when attempting to get train status or purchase a ticket. UPDATE Jan 31: App works great on Wi-Fi AND Verizon 4G. Thanks for the 4G network fix!
Needs improvement Updated: 12/6/16 still same issues 1. Stopped showing upcoming trips I purchased on the website. 2. Having to input cc info every time is obnoxious. Other companies find ways to securely save payment methods. 3. Cannot use vouchers available.
Still a hot mess after update Rewards points still "zero", but tier qualifying points DO show. No pay with points. Senior discount hidden in ending discount drop down, not up front with kids. Completed trips still "current". No edit/change trip option Shouldn't need train number to check status if you have station! At least mimic julie phone functionality! No route map, no live map, no fare saver. Really clunky travel planner that says "no trips available" because it's not smart enough to factor connections and it didn't explain why.
Really easy, very handy. Only downside is changing tickets/trains has awkward workflow - you have to cancel current trip before you get to see if alternative times are avail. Wflow shoud be, off of current trip page, change trains CLICK, find trains, confirm seating, accept change, app should then do all cancel amd voucher stuff behind the screen. Imho
Map Needs a rout map in geographic context so you can find the station closest to your desination. Also needs a prominent & clear explanation of how you present you ticket(s) for travel when purchased from the app.
Very buggy. Needs work Lock you out for no reason. Does not display tickets for upcoming trips but will continue to display past tickets
I bought a train ticket with this app. As soon as I switched to another app on my phone, it lost my ticket. To retrieve the ticket, I need to give it both my email address AND reservation number which I cannot get because the ticket was lost. I sent a message to the developer but received no response. I wish Amtrak did not even develop it, I would have used their web site on my phone to get an e-ticket. Very upset, lost $29 on this "free" app. Don't understand why they would not allow search by email address.
