Scan Halal was born out of frustration with reading through all the long worded hard to pronounce time consuming ingredients that so many of us muslims struggle with every day.

We handle the complicated stuff, so you don't have to. Simply scan the barcode (UPC/EAN) of the product you wish to consume and within seconds our app will breakdown the sources of ingredients (plant, animal, synthetic, etc) and display the halal status. 3.5 stars because of the way the camera acts when taking pictures for items not in the database. Have to take photos multiple times just so the label and ingredient lists is clear. Serves a good purpose and hope they improve. I've been using this a long time so long that when me and my buddy scann Ied Jack Daniels it was verified halal :D We contacted support and they quickly fixed that.

The app used to work great. Before the new design more than six months ago, I rarely had any problems with the app. Then they redesigned it and the scanner doesn't work right anymore. All of my background phone notifications across the top flicker like a strobe light, the phone gets too hot, and it takes ateast 30 seconds for the picture to take, when it does, it's unfocused and can't read the barcode, so you have to try again, and again, taking several minutes for each item. Why bother.

many features of this app doesn't work. app crashes when open tutorial. custom setting isn't available anymore. I've sent info of many products that were not in their data base but they're still being processed after a year. i still am looking for any app that may have better result. I'd love to pay any amount if worth it. so, always read ingredients before you buy anything. any suspicious ingredient can be verified online.
