Scan Halal was born out of frustration with reading through all the long worded hard to pronounce time consuming ingredients that so many of us muslims struggle with every day.

We handle the complicated stuff, so you don't have to. Simply scan the barcode (UPC/EAN) of the product you wish to consume and within seconds our app will breakdown the sources of ingredients (plant, animal, synthetic, etc) and display the halal status. The app used to work great. Before the new design more than six months ago, I rarely had any problems with the app. Then they redesigned it and the scanner doesn't work right anymore. All of my background phone notifications across the top flicker like a strobe light, the phone gets too hot, and it takes ateast 30 seconds for the picture to take, when it does, it's unfocused and can't read the barcode, so you have to try again, and again, taking several minutes for each item. Why bother.

I use it because its product database is comparatively bigger than other apps. But really, this app is very buggy. The most annoying thing is that after one scan, if you go back to home screen and try to scan again, the camera freezes and cannot scan at all. To the devs: Looks like the app continues to feed on the camera even though you came out of the activity. This should be fixed urgently.

App no longer works. Scans were just spinning and then it would ask for my preference. I uninstalled and tried to get through the initial setup but it gets stuck on selecting my preference. Custom option does not work selecting zabihah just spins for a second but doesnt move to another screen. Mar 27 2020 Thank you for fixing the app. Adjusted my score as this is the best scanner.
