Written by experts - for all gardeners, everywhere.
How the Guidelines work:
This app outlines what organic gardening means in practice. The guidelines are divided into eight main sections, each covering different aspects of garden care. Each section starts with general principles, followed by detailed lists of the practices, materials and products that can, or should not, be used in an organic garden. These have been divided up into four categories, or ratings, from:
‘Best organic practice’ to ‘Never acceptable in an organic garden’.
The app is for use by all levels of gardener, from raw novice to experienced professional. The methods are also relevant for use by children, the gardeners of the future.
********************************** MAIN SECTIONS *************************************
• Organic acceptability ratings
• Organic soil care
• Plant raising and growing in containers
• Garden and plant health
• Water Use
• Wood (timber) in the garden
• Energy use in the garden
Organic gardening methods harness the natural cycles and processes that promote plant growth. The app will help users care for the environment and to cut their ‘carbon footprint’ by ‘reducing, reusing and recycling’ resources, while creating a flourishing growing space.
Why organic gardening matters:
Gardening and growing offers great benefits for us all – benefits for the environment, for people’s health and wellbeing, for food security and for building stronger communities. Our outdoor growing space, be it the private garden, community garden, allotment, school garden, or just a small space nearby, is a place where we relax and recharge both spiritually and physically. It is also a place where we can learn and reconnect with nature and the food we eat and where we can take practical action to adopt sustainable lifestyles.
Using the organic approach to gardening and growing, which Garden Organic has been promoting for over 50 years, will ensure that these benefits can be achieved and enjoyed to their full potential.
These guidelines are based on the principles and practices of organic agriculture, as defined by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) and they have been interpreted and adapted by Garden Organic to apply to garden scale growing.
About Garden Organic:
Garden Organic is the UK national charity dedicated to researching and promoting sustainable growing, and has been at the forefront of organic horticulture for over 50 years. Garden Organic has aimed to ensure that these Organic Gardening Guidelines are practical and cover every aspect of gardening organically, wherever you are in the world.

Every garden operation was made to seem a wonderful and difficult undertaking. Now, all that has changed. In fact the pendulum has swung, as it usually does, to the other extreme. Often, if you are a beginner, you have been flatteringly told in print that you could from the beginning do just as well as the experienced gardener

It is designed with simplicity in mind, with information provided on each genus including common names, distribution, growing region, when and how to sow, and plant care.
The Garden Plants Growing Guide contains beautiful photographs making it easy to visualize how the plants will look in your garden.
All of the plant growing information is stored natively on the phone, so there is no need for internet access to use the app once it has been installed. This means that you can access the Garden Plants Growing Guide wherever you are, whether it be in the garden greenhouse, at a nursery, or even a remote botanical garden.
As the plant index is image intensive it may occasionally deliver a 'window not found error'; this is due to running out of internal memory on the phone. This most commonly occurs when many other apps are running simultaneously.
This is easily (usually) fixable by doing the following:
Settings --> Apps --> Downloaded --> Garden Plants Growing Guide
Then click the --> Clear Data and Force Stop buttons.
We’ve all admired our neighbor’s gorgeous gardens filled with flowering perennials and longed to recreate their beauty in our own back yard. But if we’re being honest, when it comes to gardening, most of us have no idea where to begin. Additionally, in these economic times, who can afford to hire an expert to come in and do the job for us? That said, regular folks all across North America and Europe are returning to the soil, shovels in hand. With the help of this book, there is absolutely no need to fly blind into the world of green thumbs, perennials, and herbs. The name--Garden Guide: A No Nonsense, No PhD Guide to Great Gardens with Hand-Holding How To’s for Beginners and Straightforward Instruction for Advanced Gardeners—truly says it all. With her warm, inviting, no-nonsense instruction, you will be amazed how simple and doable gardening really is. Not only will you be thoroughly educated in basic gardening, you will find yourself inspired to begin planting in your own patch of earth and well on your way toward beautiful perennial beds.
By reading this Organic Gardening Guide you will learn how to garden using no chemicals or outside man made products. Most of the materials you will need to start a successful organic garden are already in your house!
This guide will explain how to set up your own successful organic vegetable garden with little outside investment.
You will no longer have to spend money purchasing vegetables from your local market that will go bad quickly and need to be replaced. Plus you will no longer have to worry about making last minute trips to the grocery store for vegetables you have run out of or that have gone bad.
If you are like most people, you probably tried your hand at gardening at some point in your life. And, if you were successful, kudos to you! Many of us have that proverbial "black thumb," however, and are slightly less successful - actually a lot less successful.
No matter which category you fall under, you might want to rethink your ideas and gardening practices. Science has gardening on a commercial level down to an exact process.
Gone are the days of the small farmer who grew fresh vegetables and sold them on a roadside stand. Some even sold them to local grocery stores.
And, while we do admire the displays at the grocery today, it's a good bet that much of that produce came from countries far away and were not even ripe for picking.
Unfortunately for us, in the world we live in today, our vegetables are grown in pest free environments, engineered to look good and are often picked and stored in huge areas until they are shipped to our local grocers.
Indeed, while the produce looks beautiful, it's often lacking in good flavor and sometimes borders on tasting like cardboard!
Ask yourself these three questions:
1.What if there were a way to turn it all around for your family?
2.What if you were able to recover a new enthusiasm for your food?
3.What if there were a way to dare to eat healthy?
Well, you can and it's much easier than you may think.
Okay, since you are still reading it's a pretty good bet that you have either tried your hand at gardening or would like to learn how to do it.
While there are tons of expensive books that you can buy that will give you lots of "theory" there are few that actually give you hands on step by step experience from a guy who has done it.
And, while most of those authors are very well known and icons in their venue, how often do you see others actually change their gardening habits as a result of reading them?
Not very often, I'd wager. Why do you think that is? Are the principles not sound? Of course they are. Is the content faulty? Not at all. Well, then what is the problem?
Usually, the problem is. . .are you ready. . .desire and belief!
It's easy to believe that a "gardening guru" can build a successful garden! After all the gardeners you watch on T.V. have a whole production staff to do nothing but make sure the guy's garden is perfect right down to the last little leaf.
You believe that it's impossible for you to master gardening like the guru so you lose what? The desire! So what's the problem with you? You've never been able to believe that YOU can do the same.
Well, we're here to tell you today that you can. You just need to believe it. And how do you do that? Where do you get that kind of knowledge? Glad you asked. You need our handy little guide called "Your Organic Gardening Guide!"
and some of the best parts are . . .
• It isn't written by a T.V. guru. It’s very easy to read.
• It doesn’t require much time to find out what works and what doesn't.
• Cost of the guide is minimal – you'll laugh at the price!
Everything is there to help you understand that you CAN do this and most importantly you can learn very quickly how to garden ORGANICALLY.
The very fact that a regular guy just like us has been able to provide his family with their own healthy vegetables is reason enough to jump at the chance to learn how you can do it too. Take a look at what you'll uncover:
Learn how to get started the right way.
Find out how to get rid of pests without harsh chemicals.
Discover what fertilizers to use.
Feeding your garden and more!
We truly hope you see the potential here, and realize how important this offer is!
