Food Allergies are tough. Millions of people follow gluten and celiac free diets, many avoid peanuts & shellfish, others are lactose intolerant, while many others are affected by a myriad of others kinds of food allergies.
If you are one of these millions of people, or have family members who are, you know that grocery shopping can sometimes be a difficult process. Before you buy anything you're not familiar with, you have to look at the ingredients and make sure it doesn't contain anything you or your loved one might be allergic to. This process can be both cumbersome and inaccurate. You can use Food Guard to alleviate this problem.
Disclaimer: you should exercise your best judgement when purchasing foods; Food Guard is a guide.

The heart of the app is a diary in which you can record all the individual food items that you eat for each meal of the day. In addition you can also record any symptoms you experience which may be caused by some of these food items. The exact time and date is recorded for each entry, to build up a comprehensive picture of your diet and symptoms on an hour by hour, day by day basis.
Entering the information is easy because the Intolerance Food Diary remembers every food item or symptom that you enter into the diary, so the next time you come to type in that same information - it appears ready to select in a drop down list. This makes filling in the diary much quicker and more reliable.
Once you have recorded a useful amount of data on your food consumption and symptoms, then the Food Intolerance Diary is able to perform a statistical analysis on this information and then give an indication of which food items might be the most likely cause of a specific symptom you are experiencing. In addition you can look for foods which, after consumption, may have either a short or a long "incubation period" before causing a noticeable symptom. This can be done by adjusting a simple slider to influence how the statistical analysis looks at the data. It should be noted that the information provided in this app does not constitute medical advice. You should always consult with a medical professional before embarking on any course of action which may affect your health.
Finally the app also allows you to create reports from the data in your food and symptom diary. You can select entries between any two dates, and export the data to a PDF report document or a CSV data file (for use in a spreadsheet). The information can then be emailed to either yourself or the medical professional who is monitoring your diet.
All data entered into this app is stored locally on your device. It is only accessible by you.
Allergy Analyzer enables you to
- Analyze which combinations of allergic complaints and food, activities or situations (contacts) occur most often and make an analysis of the correlation between types of complaints and types of contacts
- Calculate the correlation coefficient of complaints and contacts that occur together
- Get a graphic insight into the occurrence over time of complaints and contacts
- Review and edit previously entered contacts and (allergic) complaints
- Select only categories of (allergic) complaints relevant to your situation to be shown in the app, or add new types of complaints
- Add your own types of food, activities or situations for which you want to register contacts in the app
Allergy Analyzer can be used in two modes:
- Quick scan: you enter date and time of complaints and contacts, and Allergy Analyzer presents for a chosen type of complaint, the number of combinations of complaints and contact types that occurred within a (user-selected) period of time after a contact, giving you an insight into which combinations of contacts and complaints occur most frequently;
- In-depth analysis: in addition to time of complaints and contacts, you also enter the amount or intensity of contacts and the intensity or severity of complaints, and Allergy Analyzer shows the correlation between types of contacts and complaint types (if at least five combinations are found of contacts and complaints), giving you an understanding of how the severity of complaints correlate with the amount or extent of contacts.
Allergy Analyzer is available in Dutch, English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish.
This app does not provide medical advice nor does it substitute for medical advice. When experiencing allergic symptoms you are advised to contact a doctor.

HOW SHOPWELL WORKS
ShopWell takes the guesswork out of deciphering food nutrition labels while you shop at the supermarket by providing you with personalized food scores. ShopWell’s scoring system and scanner assesses foods based on your age, gender, health goals, diet needs, and your ingredient and nutrition preferences.
Food scores range from 0-100 and are bucketed into three categories: Green scores are a strong match for your diet, so are typically okay to eat in normal portions. Yellow scores are a medium match for your health, so you should read the labels carefully. Red scores are a weak match for your diet, or contain a potential allergen so these foods should be avoided or only be eaten occasionally in small portions.
Our team of Registered Dietitians, top data scientists, and world-class engineers combines its collective knowledge to evaluate foods on an ongoing basis. ShopWell draws on trusted resources and guidelines set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Institute of Medicine (IOM), and the latest peer reviewed research.
ShopWell works with United States based grocery foods only.

10 Tips For Avoiding Peanut Allergy Reactions
Peanut Allergies - Hate The Peanut, Not The Parent!
Taking Care Of Children With Peanut Allergies
Peanut Allergy Diagnosis And Testing
Starting School With A Peanut Allergy
really believed we hated!
Often, to the adults in our young lives, these likes and dislikes make no
sense whatsoever, and more often than not, they are correct to adopt this
view. For instance, as a kid I loved tomato soup but hated tomatoes and
tomato juice, which I admit makes no sense whatsoever!
As we grow older, most of us grow out of these likes and dislikes, simply
because that is all they were – little more than a passing phase of liking or
For a large number of people, however, the problem that they have with
food is more far reaching and serious than this.
For these people, certain foodstuffs will trigger an adverse physical reaction,
and while not all of these people are completely allergic to any particular
foodstuff, their bodily reaction might indicate otherwise.
In the West, the most common food allergy is to peanuts, while allergic
reactions to tree nuts are far less common.
Despite this, however, most people know little about peanut allergy, or any
other form of adverse reaction to nuts.
They would, therefore, have very little chance of recognizing such a
condition in friends or family members, and this can be a particularly serious
problem for the parents of young children for whom peanut allergy can be
an extremely serious and distressing problem.
This book will teach you what you need to know about such allergies,
focusing primarily on peanut allergy (as this is the condition which most
people are likely to be exposed to), other adverse reactions to peanut-based
products, and what you can do to deal with those problems.
In the last few pages of the book, we will look at a few of the important facts
about tree nut allergies.
- food additives,
- food allergens,
- diets (if it's Halal/Haram, Kosher/No-Kosher, Vegan or not)
- treatments (irradiation and GMO)
- and nutrition facts.
