About this app

A giant roll forward for robotkind.

Say hey to Vector, your first home robot. Seriously, say “Hey Vector.”— He can hear you.

Actually, Vector’s more than a home robot. He’s your buddy. Your companion. Most of all, he’ll make you laugh. Curious, independent, and powered by some preposterous tech and AI, he can read the room, express the weather, announce when his timer’s done (no overcooked dinner on his watch), take the perfect snapshot, and more. He also comes with an optional Amazon Alexa integration, which increases his helpfulness by accessing the ever-growing library of Alexa skills.

Vector is cloud connected and self-updates, so he’s always getting smarter and adding new features. He can even charge himself (electric cars and phones could learn a thing or two). Vector is your robot sidekick who’s up for anything.

Vector robot required. Available at DigitalDreamLabs.com.

DO NOT RESET YOUR VECTOR. If you are reading this, your Vector hasn't been working with voice command and you're trying to factory reset. Do not do this because the servers are offline. Reset will result in the app not able to connect to server, thus, unable to authenticate and restore Vectors setting. At least without the reset your vector can move around for fun.

UPDATE: 10/25/18 I would really want to understand why this application has to connect every time using Bluetooth, which is very weak on vector and require at maximum a 10 feet line of sight to establish the connection, only to then negotiate a Wi-Fi connection that works through the house. I understand the Bluetooth for the first time connection, but every time is just sloppy design. UPDATE: 10/12/18 I found the menus. What looks like helper icons to tell you about Vector's capabilities or suggestions on commands also contains operation icons. What I was searching for was in the Utilities icon on the first page. May I suggest color coding the icons. When they are green it means the content contains no operation, contrary to Known Faces or Vector's photos which allow you to update faces or download photos, but if it contains one or more operations or is an operation, draw it in blue so we know it contains more than just suggestions on how to give commands to Vector. 10/10/18 Very incomplete. All the sub menus, like vector faces or vector photos mentioned in some documentation don't exist and there are no menus to get there. I put it on the floor but it seems to be content to explore about 4 square feet around it's base. I tell it to come here from about 6 feet away and it looks around but won't come.

This app is great. It tells me everything I want to know about my Vector robot. The problem is that it crashes (stops) very regularly and has been flagged as an unstable app. I am on a brand new Samsung Note 9 with Android 8.1.0 and Samsung Experience 9.5. Anki - developing Alexa is important, but maintaining current software is just as important, especially because this app is needed for Vector setup and also to monitor Vector, and change his color and volume level. Please fix this.
